Champions League - Europa League - Conference League
Still think the Europa wouldn't be a bad outcome. The squad ain't ready for CL

After 25 years of crap it would be a trememndous achievement for us.

Lets look at the season as a whole. The season didn't start last weekend, it started almost nine months ago.

That's how I'm looking at it.

Surely that is how any realistic and level headed person would look at it.

Agreed. And everyone from Villa down in the Pl would swap places with us in a heartbeat.

Since Brighton we have been a bit underwhelming but what a hell of a ride we have had.

And it’s not over yet…..

No it's not. Chelsea's next two games are massive challenges. Villa don't have any gimmes left. Newcastle's are all tricky. In no way whatsoever have we blown anything yet.

We prob already have enough points for 7th.

Not over yet and I don’t want to comment on Europe.

The problem for me is that most other teams seem to be in form right now whilst we seem to have run out of gas.

No doubt this is all true but doesn't mean we can't all be disappointed that our fairytale season didn't quite stick to the script until the end. I mean I heard someone saying yesterday finishing top 5 for us would be 2nd to Leicester amongst underdog seasons in recent Premier League (which in itself is fairly depressing for the state of the PL).

7th and Europa League or Conference League would still be great of course but it still takes the season down a peg or two.

Anyway, despite all the red flags I'm not ready to give up just yet. It is somehow still in our hands and surely we won't be the only other one of us, Newcastle, Villa and Chelsea not to get nervous/bottle it a bit. Palace are preparing for a cup final and then Leicester and West Ham and dogshit. We can at least take it down to the Chelsea game.

There is still a very good route for us to get to 66/67 points which should be enough.
Beat Leicester and I still think we can win 1 of our last 2 away games.

Chelsea have 2 very tough games now, and Villa have Fulham and Bournemouth next who are really pushing for Europe.

Can’t see Villa winning all 4, and Chelsea will drop points these next few games IMO

Worst case scenario is a final day shoot out IMO

I think we'd all take a final day shootout with it in our hands if offered right now.

The downside with Villa's matches is that they've got Man U and Spurs to play still and it looks like they'll both be in the Europa League final.

Though I guess you could view that as they'll be playing for their final places as well.

The Spurs game directly before the final is a massive advantage for Villa, surely they'll rotate. That said Spurs are terrible and likely would've lost anyway.

I was absolutely dreading last night's game all week, just thought the Wembley hangover combined with recent form and Brentford having lots of extra prep time would be too much.

Now it feels like we're no longer favourites again it's almost a bit freeing. Hopefully the players will react similarly and play with the freedom they've lacked in the last few games.
