Feeling slightly disappointed this morning.

In the end I thought the occasion turned out to be a bit of a damp squib.

Also slightly baffled by Nuno's team selection.

If Elanga is 100% fit and not nursing an injury then I am a bit miffed that he didn't start the game as I suspect are many others.

I’d love for us to go back to Wood with Elanga and CHO wide with MGW behind- we were destroying teams when we did. Nuno seems to have lost his nerve a touch? (Not a complaint- in Nuno we trust!)

Our players seem to be completely in awe of this City team. We stood off them 1st half and looked like we didn't believe we could beat them. Same happened at the Etihad when they were playing pants at that time.

Hopefully we start our normal front 4 on Thursday. Potentially our normal back four, then Anderson and Yates in midfield

I'm struggling to believe he's fully fit. He was all over Spurs before coming off when you'd think we'd need him then we definitely needed him today and he did so well in the first game vs City too.

I feel like we were missing just too many players. In Neco and Yates we missed two of our hardest working players which definitely felt missing yesterday. Plus players having to protect Abbott (who did well really in the end).

I wonder if that influenced Nuno's team selection as well - i.e. not picking Elanga so that Abbott was better protected by Dominguez or Danilo in front of him. Though as you say he didn't really need it - he had a steady game.

I am not buying that one.

I am sure that if Nuno thought that Abbott needed some kind of special protection then he wouldn't have picked him in the first place.

I think it would've been the case whoever played there with Aina and Neco out. We saw what happened vs Villa when we didn't do that.

Interesting in the post match presser, they asked Nuno if he should have started Elanga.
To which he answered that he had given serious consideration to starting him at right back !

It sounds like Nuno was never going to play CHO, Elanga, MGW and Wood from the off against City as an attacking quartet.

Because of Abbott and Toff starting? It's just odd as he started them all when we beat them at the City Ground.

What happened with Aina in the end?

Well he was there with what looked like his wash bag unless he was carrying someone’s else’s? So who knows.

Elanga hasn’t played more then 45 mins since the United game so sometimes up which we know about, what happens to the game plan if we sets up with our front 4 and then subs elanga at half time? Does silva or sosa not have that same threat in case we’re not winning?

I'm wondering if Nuno had extra time and penalties in mind by keeping Elanga on the bench and bringing him on later in the game. Fast fresh legs against a tiring City defence makes sense to me.

Just a thought!
