That is all.
Sniff, this 'look at where we were last year' talk will not be being said by the players, the staff or the owner. If we dont qualify for the champions league when we were 8(?) points ahead with 8 games to go then they'll all be thinking its a complete disaster. Finishing 6th or lower will be considered a failure, not an achievement, trust me.
We were never 8 clear, it was 7 but that doesn't include Newcastle's game in hand at home to Palace so really it's likely 6 to Man City and possibly Newcastle.
It'll be a disappointment for many but not a failure.

However a bit of me does think that as unexpected as it was, this could be our best ever chance to join the big time with Spurs and Man U both having stinkers, City no longer a dominant force. All 3 will likely be stronger next year, we don’t know when the next opportunity will be.
I hope and still think we can get over the line, regardless it is a massive improvement on where we were last season with essentially the same squad.

This season is just brilliant. End of. We are still third and if we win every game from now on; then, no one can catch us.
Saturday showed us that we are 4 or 5 players short when we need to change things.

Newcastle do have a game in hand and can catch us but otherwise the sentiment is accurate!

I have just had a big dose of perspective.
Just coming around on the recovery ward following an operation to have some veins removed.
So we lost on Saturday.
Meh.

Sounds fun. Hope you make a swift recovery mate.
And that kinda reinforces my point. We get so swept up in football that it's easy to lose sight of what's *really* important in life. That's why some of the reactions and language used around football don't sit well with me, because in the grand scheme of things it's really not *that* important.

Thanks lads for the best wishes.
Had to do some vein stripping in my legs after some blood clotting problems.
I have been discharged now and I am back at home recovering.
Thanks again : :

I know most of us are feeling a bit deflated (or worse Pap :Funny:) this morning. But the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and consider this:
- Last season with two games left we weren't mathematically safe from relegation
- This season with two games left we're not mathematically uncertain of reaching the Champions League
- And this season with two games left we ARE mathematically certain of playing some form of European football next season
At the very worst we're ten League places better off than last season. That is some improvement.

It’s also a minimum of 30m in Prem merit payments improvement (3m per position).
Commercial deals wiill significantly increase this summer given our European campaign.
Even if it is to be Europa League that will be anywhere beteeen an extra 20-40m in the coffers.
Added to that our allowable losses will increase to 105m and last year we made a profit,
EM will not hold back this summer, expect a really strong improvement not only to the squad, but to the starting X1
This is just a building block to where EM will take us.
