Champions League - Europa League - Conference League
The 2026 Champions League final will be held in Budapest.

Just saying, not sure why.

So after last night's matches the maximum points that teams behind us can get to are:

Man City - 75
Newcastle - 77
Chelsea - 76
Villa - 72
Brighton - 71
Fulham - 69
Bournemouth - 68

That's not taking into account games against each other, of which I know there are a few.

We're on 57 so need 21 more points to be mathematically certain of 3rd and 19 to be certain of top 5.

Ryanair fly direct from East Mids to Budapest on Fridays and Sundays. Again just saying if anyone fancies a short break.

Good choice is Budapest but from a purely selfish point of view Athens would have been better  :Funny:

I am getting a bit edgy regards CL.

Please not lets have a meltdown if we don't make it.

Even getting EL would be phenomenal for us.

We are still very much alive for CL but when I look over my shoulder at City, Chelsea, Newcastle and Villa etc they have been there and done it and they know what it takes plus they also have bigger and better squads.

No way is this meant to be negative but I am admittedly getting a bit edgy.

I'm only worried if the injures keep coming.

Three more wins should do it. We have four home matches left. Newcastle have a horrendous May fixture list.

Yeah I'm confident. We've got points in the bag. Villa need 7 more points than us over 7 games. And with the standard of their defense, they will lose several games with their run in. They're not getting top 5.

City, Newcastle and Chelsea are all inconsistent this season and need quite a few more points than us. Can't see us being overtaken by all of them. I actually think both Chelsea and Newcastle will fade away. City will likely get into top 5 comfortably in my opinion

It would be disappointing if we didn't make it.

However, if we got into the Europa League there is upside to that too. We'd actually have a chance to win it, less likely to crash out early. Plus, if you do win the EL then you're into the CL anyway so would give us that option too if next season in the league is a bit tougher.

If we tumbled down and ended up in the europa, let's be realistic, it'd be a monumental fail from where we are now, and where we've been now for pretty much half the season.

Ouch. I know what you're saying but I think you're narrowing your field of vision way too much. Whatever happens from now onwards, this season has been a spectacular success. We could lose every single game we have left and we'll still qualify for europe on 57 points, which the vast majority of us would have been happy with at the start of the season!

Having said that, I'm not joining in with the happy to qualify for Europe league chat because we're more likely to win it. It's still extremely difficult to win, I'm all in for CL! Enables us to do so much more to future proof our club to compete at the top end of the prem and for future cups....
