The second half performance was a thoroughly enjoyable 50 minutes of football. If only Murillos effort had been a couple of inches lower.
On a positive note, we have Moreno back for next week, so there should be no reason for Nuno to go 5 at the back again
There was no reason to go 5 at the back today we had Toff on the bench. Very much 3rd choice but good enough not to sacrifice our shape and play players out of position.
Not the end of the world but you have to trust the squad.

We had chances and good ones. I thought we were gonna get thumped after the start we had but we stuck in there and 2nd Half we were good. They got chances on the break because we were piling forward .
Rest up and go again next week.

All we can surmise is that Nuno didn’t see enough in training to start who those players and in that way, we were unlucky that the injury to Aina came just before moreno couldn’t play
In the end we won 2-1 at home when we probably shouldn’t and lost 2-1 away when we probably shouldn’t. I don’t mind trading results as I said earlier most people may have had us on 10 points from Arsenal - Villa. I’ll have to look how we match up compared to the first half of the season

What Morato did was criminal, bent over fiddling about with his shin pads when the ball comes over the top to Rogers. If I was his manager I would have hooked him immediately.
Very good second half and If Anderson and Williams could have at least hit the target once between them then we wouldn't have gone home empty handed.
Very happy with Jota's contribution up top but slightly disappointed with Nunos team selection at the back.

Morato was very poor in that game. He also got a yellow and a foul throw. I think Toff’s
Should have started but it seems that Nuno unfortunately doesn’t rate him even though he has never let us down.
Second half could have been 5-5. I think this was one we were worried about and now it’s over we really shouldn’t fear anyone. Everton will be annoying as they will play to frustrate us but hopefully we get a few lucky breaks.
It is all still to play for and if we get champions league I will be sooo happy. I think we can do it. Just got to have the f**k you attitude we have had all season.

A lot's been said about our low block game this season but on the occasions where we've come out and played a bit, imo we've been pretty good at it. Second half yesterday we took the game to them amd looked dangerous but for some poor/unlucky finishes.

When the players have got over the disappointment of the defeat, they should take great confidence from the way they performed in the 2nd half. If we approach the rest of the season like we did in the 2nd half yesterday then we'll be fine.
It's strange considering we lost, but the way we took the game to Villa really underlined to me how good a side we are. We haven't just got a system that's successful, we've got good players and an excellent coach.

Same. I actually felt pretty good after yesterday even though we lost. As long as we get a striker back in the short term, I'm very confident we'll be fine. Or..... he trusts Jota to put himself about up front like he did yesterday.
I think Nuno will finally learn his lesson that we can't currently play 5 at the back successfully, which will also be beneficial!

We cant claim both we deserved to win vs Man Utd when we went ahead and then got battered living on our nerves for the remainder of the game and also say we deserved a point yesterday.
Ultimately that was the Utd game in reverse, its fine to say we deserved a win for the defensive performance on Tuesday by restricting Utd to them to a few clear chances and long range efforts but that’s exactly what Villa did to us.
Or of you want you could say Utd were unlucky on Tuesday and we were unlucky yesterday.

That’s kind of what I mean
We got 3 points from 2 games when you could argue both games should have been a point each. So on balance it’s better.
Been a bit like that all season, we have very few draws which usually works out better.

Always felt like this game was the closest we get to a free hit that you could get but I came away from Villa Park absolutely gutted, however you’ve got to put the ball in the net and we were very wasteful in front of goal right from when Elanga pulled his shot wide in the first half until MGWs sub par flicked header late on.
A Villa fan outside was saying afterwards that had we had Chris Wood up front we would have come away with three points against them. I’m not entirely sure about that but Villa basically did to us what we’ve done to teams all season, some ruthless finishing and then sitting back to defend the lead.
The first half was shambolic, with Dominguez and Morato particularly noteworthy from a defensive perspective. I was adamant pre match that Toffolo should have started and nothing during the game suggested to me that he shouldn’t have been given the chance. However the number of times we failed to hit the target was quite frankly shameful, starting with those chances to Elanga and CHO in particular in the first half, and then those squandered by Williams, MGW, Anderson and Jota Silva, did I miss any others? Elliot especially needs to do better in those situations.
Just to single out two players
Matz Sels was great. The standout player of the season to me.
Jota Silva. I have questioned whether he can play up front, and his goal suggested he can, he needs to do it again and again now to show that he can.
We’ve got a week now to pick ourselves up for Everton. Hopefully Elanga and Anderson aren’t too seriously injured, and we can get the likes of Aina, Wood and Taiwo closer to match fitness.
The chasing teams will smell blood after that result so we need to do what Nuno’s Forest have continually done this season and show them that we are here to stay.
