Next Few Games

[Tricky]

As much as the team is one game at a time, it doesn't stop us speculating. I reckon the next 6 will be pivotal as to our finishing position. We did not fair that well first half with 2 draws and 4 defeats - a repeat of that and we will have a lot to do in the last ten.

So what do we think we will need to still be top 4 by the end of it
Bournemouth A (5th in form table with 3 wins and 3 draws)
Brighton H (9th 2 wins and 4 draws)
Fulham A (10th 2 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss)
Newcastle A (2nd 5 wins 1 loss)
Arsenal H (4th 4 wins 2 draws)
Man city H (6th 3 wins, 2 draws 1 loss)

None of these sides lose much and anything over 2 points is an improvement from first half so would we think 6 would be enough to maintain top 4 considering we have a 6 point gap?

Arent we top of the current form table with 5 wins and 1 draw? That could make a lot of difference, especially against Arsenal, Citeh and Brighton at home.

We have got to get that performance yesterday out of our heads.

We simply have to get back on that horse starting with Brighton.

I think these next 5 games are going to define our season.

Would argue the first 2 in particular are the most important, both from a reaction viewpoint and keeping us clear of competition for Euro places. Need to target 4 points there I would say.

Newcastle, Arsenal and City will all finish in the top 5 and we primarily need to put in a good performance. I don’t believe in free hits any more in our position but I would take any points gained from those 3 games as positive.

One win or even two draws from those five games is more points than we got first half of the season. If we do that and come anywhere near matching what we did in the remaining fixtures we've still got a great chance of finishing top six.

I’m just looking at it on a PPG basis.

Just 1 PPG (relegation form) gets us to 59 points whixh will typically see you finish 7th or 8th over last 10 seasons.

1.5 PPG gets us to 67 points which could well be enough for 5th.

We’ve put ourselves in a superb position, a couple of signings and Danilo / Sangare hopefully able to help we give ourselves a great chance of 5th position

And 8th will be enough for Europe as long as:

- England gets a 5th Champions League place (currently over 95% chance)
- Spurs don't win the Carabao Cup
- Someone in the top 6 wins the FA Cup

Then 1-5 would get Champions League, 6 and 7 Europa League and 8 Conference League.

Man City: (Brugge), Arsenal, (L Orient), Newcastle, Liverpool, Spurs, Us

Newcastle: Fulham, (Arsenal), (Birmingham), Man City, Us, Liverpool, West Ham

Chelsea: West Ham, (Brighton), Brighton, Villa, Saints, Leicester

Bournemouth: Liverpool, (Everton), Saints, Wolves, Brighton, Spurs



Looks like Chelsea and Bournemouth have an easy ride on paper, we need Brighton to find some pride after the game with us and Southampton to have the determination not to be the worst prem side in history

And although talks of doing a Leicester were fun, we’ve gotta all be team Liverpool (I know that makes me sick in my mouth) and team Arsenal (apart from our match) for the next month or so to at least keep us 3rd cus someone’s gotta lose
