Interesting that Liverpool got really tight on MGW last night and it stopped us playing out at pace. Hope other clubs don't use that as the blueprint to overcome our counter attacking game.

Yes, exactly that. Four points from the two matches wouldn't be too bad. Liverpool are away at Brentford too so it's not inconceivable that they drop points there. Still all very much to play for.

yep he looked hassled last night but not every club has a midlfield like Liverpool.

One small criticism what I think we need to work on is just to have a bit more control when we win the ball back in and around our area. There were times last night when we didn't have to boot it into touch or launch it straight back to Liverpool. I think we can work and improve on that. Even the goal, Williams didn't have to put it out for a corner in my opinion.

However I don't want to focus on that because it has been and it continues to be absolutely brilliant. COYR!

Definitely a good point. I was thinking after last what do we need to do to step up a level against the bigger teams and yeah, think that would be something very worth working on.

Agree with all of that. That was the one disappointment for me (aside from the goal). When we did get the ball back we seemed in too much of a rush to use it rather than just keeping it for a while. Their pressing partly caused that of course.

Apart from that there was so much to enjoy about last night and nobody can be in any doubt now that we're where we are on merit. That performance would've added a few more millions to Murillo's price tag too. I wish his attempted shot from about 50 yards hadn't been blocked straight away!

Brilliant night but as with Sniffer a bit more objective.

Firstly lets be clear they were quality. They absolutely shut MGW down all night, you reckon other teams might try to do the same but I don’t think many would be able to. Thats said for 60 mins we did the gameplan to perfection. Slot can f**k right off with his “we controlled the game” nonsense, they had a load of shots from 25 yards which nearly hit the upper tier.

Definitely we wilted badly last 30 thought, not having a go because every single one of our lads absolutely buried themselves. Did think Nuno was way too slow with his subs, thought Morato should have been on far earlier, really rode our luck at the end. I know Sels dug us out but wonder if we could have managed the game somewhat better.

Not sure I agree with Sniffer about controlling the ball, it was pinging all over the place and we forced them to lose it on numerous occasions too. However we did have a load of breakaways when the final ball wasn’t as good as we have seen, just wonder if with a bit more composure we could have wrapped the game up. Thats not criticism of CHO or Elanga because both were magnificent overall. Shout to Neco for shutting Salah down all game too. Overall a nervy but deserved draw, who would have thought.

For me the disappointing thing was the last 30 minutes partly affected by being exhausted.

I can't have been the only one at around 60 who started getting pretty confident, up until that point we'd shut Salah/Liverpool down, they'd not had a shot on target and we were still looking threatening ourselves. After the goal, things went a bit awry, can perhaps see where we next need to strengthen to push on next season.

All that said, wouldn't want to actually be critical as I still think that was the peak of what this group are capable of against the best team in Europe and for 60 mins we had them!

Murillo surely just earned himself a start for Brazil, he was unbelievable. Aina won the battle of the right backs and Sels continues to make me look like an idiot. However, for who he kept quiet for 75 minutes, man of match surely to Neco Williams. For a guy not even playing on the correct side, he's had a phenomenal run of late.

Agree generally with that Sniff, but the players have to play the game that's in front of them. We were hanging on at the end, our energy levels were zapped and Williams, for example, had to continue to deal with a player like Salah, who incidentally he'd managed superbly for a long period. It cant be easy playing under that kind of pressure. We had the best team in Europe throwing the kitchen sink at us.

Timing of subs was slightly off probably due to Liverpool goal. Whilst we have a much stronger bench this year, certainly in midfield and defense we lack the cutting edge in the top half to compete consistently with the top teams or to change a game in our favour when are backs are against the wall. Jita/Sosa are still works in progress and Big T is not the game changer he once used to be.
