Nottingham Forest - Aston Villa

Hoping that whatever made Yates and Murillo go off is minor in both cases and they'll be OK for Saturday. At least we don't have a midweek match whilst Brentford do.

Not sure how accurate the technology is in terms of GPS but I thought about using the players StatSport GPS trackers to determine whether they are offside or not - all players have them, they are in a fixed position in the middle of the players body, can be linked up to a central system to get an instant decision if one is further forward than the other. It would also remove any grey areas about limbs etc.
Here we go.....

This is very simple and would make the game better.

This would be impossible to officiate though without technology hence why it isn't already the rule. How is a linesman possibly expected to be able to judge people's feet?

Even with technology we'd have to wait on literally every decision.

When the semi-auto system comes in it should be ok.  Play should be allowed to continue until the Linesman and Ref get an alert......similar to goal line tech.

I think both should hopefully be fine.
Looked like both rolled their ankles
Physio and strapping should sort it

Still means you have a two tier system where outside of the prem the rules would have to be different.

Also, offside can't be 100% automated unless they change the rules due to players not interfering with play.

Yates was in the video walking through the tunnel past EM at the end of the match. Can't recall if Murillo was or not.

Same issue as feet though, you have a two tiered system then outside the top leagues where you'd need different rules. Plus you still can't account for players that are not interfering with play without changing the rules.

Or a body part you can score from.

Isn't that the rule now?

Millwall away I think.

In the Premier League possibly 30 years ago but not sure if it even happened then.

The closest in the Prem must be Chris Wood against Sheffield United last season - 89th minute.

Not a winning goal, but it made me think of the second, breakaway goal in the Championship against Leeds when we sealed a 2-0 in added time. Fantastic match and atmosphere, Feb 2020 I just looked it up, put us 4th, before things went wrong in many ways!

Yeah that moment was incredible, I think I picked up multiple injuries and people in A Block on that moment, Tyler Walker too!

If that had been a PL game you wouldn’t have celebrated because you would have been waiting for the the review of whether Lolley committed a foul by winning the ball or whether Walkers nostril hairs were offside.

Keep watching the last few minutes on repeat. What a finish!
