We went toe to toe against a team when we should have have more cover in midfield. Learning curve.
You see the media make a big deal every time City and Arsenal don't win. We aren't that. We will lose games. They did us over. Good side.

I was asking myself the same question.
Not long after JWP came on we got a corner and I think it was Anderson who took it.
Panic on the streets of Croydon, Derby, Sheffield, Leicestershire.

I don't think that Newcastle are particularly better side then us, we just did not turn up yesterday, tactics were wrong (in hindsight) and we carried a few passengers (MGW and CHO) being the main culprits. Let the media refocus on the London and so called big six teams and we can get on with building a quality team that may carry a sustained challenge over the next few years!

For me it wasn't so much keeping both wingers involved as I get that, at home etc. Anderson not starting though (not sure on fitness), I think he should be in there somewhere. I also disagreed completely with the commentator who said he and MGW can't exist in the same team. Anderson probably should've started over Dominguez and I'm confident he'll start over Elanga or CHO next game.
That said, tricky to change the team after a dominant victory and take out an attacking player, so I wouldn't get too annoyed. Just would've been nice to keep the run going another week.

I was hoping to correlate the lost to Fulham and this loss being on the eve of international breaks and maybe the leggy-ness down to the intense nature of nunos tactics and training but we played Chelsea after Fulham. Perhaps there’s a percentage of that in there

For me it’s Anderson or MGW if we stick with this formation.
It’s clearly his best position.

That was the one.
A player like Anderson should be on the edge of the box for anything that falls loose

Don't agree with that personally, can't see I watched those games thinking Anderson was going to create tons of chances in the way I would expect from MGW.
I think he's better deeper and I don't mind him out wide as he's decent defensively.

Missed a trick not putting on Anderson for CHO and JWP for MGW. 451.

Do think he'll become an 8 and will play for England.
Reflecting, Newcastle are a very decent team and played well.

Pretty decent record with him in the side while MGW was suspended.
He creates chances in a more advanced position than MGW, and carries the ball higher up the pitch.

Watched it back again on TV today and we weren't as far off as it seemed at the game.
Outnumbered in midfield at times, but usually after giving the ball away cheaply
We put quite a few good balls into the box that caused them problems, including goal and Elanga header.
On Taylor, he was garbage, but for both teams. He just seems to guess. I love Yates, but he could have easily been red carded. So many freekicks given both ways that weren't and then clear fouls not given. They probably should have had a pen, but then Burns was also all over Wood on one cross. On the other hand he got the ball when I thought he should have been given second yellow (even though Taylor gave a freekick in which case 2nd yellow should have been produced- 2 wrongs actually made a right this time). Get David Cootes in!!
Hard to blame Nuno when keeping faith with the players who'd taken us 3rd. Subs made little difference. Anderson appeared to be trying to do too much against his old side and gave away possession time after time, carrying on from what MGW had been doing tbf.
Jota had energy but little end product, Sosa started OK but had a couple of woeful touches-but looks a player.
Regarding Anderson. I really like him but prefer him as part of our CM. Despite his obvious skill set, I haven't seen anything to suggest he has the level of creativity required for a top number 10 yet. But his ability to make a yard of space, get out of trouble and get stuck in on the physical side is perfect for the middle of the park.
As I said previously- just one of those days, it certainly doesn't detract from a cracking start .....well a tiny bit maybe.
