Passion or lack of discipline?

It's a difficult one SM.

It's a Greek thing and I see it every day.

Greeks cannot control their emotions like the British.

It is embeded in Greek society.

They are hot blooded, they shout at eachother all the time, they confront eachother all the time, they argue all the time.

Sometimes it is like a theatre for me here in Athens, I just sit back and watch all the passions, emotions etc unfold in front of me.

It's in the Greek DNA, I don't think it is discipline.

EM won't change because he can't change.

Yes I understand that Sniffer but I really think its double edged. By the way my question was more aimed at the club’s behaviour as a whole not just EM.

I totally get the passion argument fuelled by a sense of injustice, it can be powerful if harnessed.
However at some point it becomes counter productive, it leads to a sloppy reckless attitude on the pitch. Off the pitch we are starting to be perceived as the moaning team by others. We are running out of referees that we haven’t complained about and how unbiased will the next referee be when he knows Forest have called his colleagues a bunch of c**ts? As fans I never want us to adopt the Scouse victim mentality and I think we are at risk of that sometimes.

Are we justified? Thats where the argument is vague. Poor refereeing, PSR, fines. EMs ban by the way is the longest in English football for an owner since Orient’s Franceso Becchetti got 6 games for kicking his assistant manager. Honestly I don’t believe there is any anti Forest conspiracy, but I do believe the system and status quo is there to protect the big 6.

The FA's report into Marinakis' suspension says that he spat on the floor at the referee as he walked past him.

It was wrong and EM should have kept his cool. Spitting even on the floor as a gesture discontent isn’t acceptable. He deserves a punishment but in effect giving him a football banning order like an hooligan is over the top especially when a player who has slready been booked and substituted is allowed to run onto the pitch and strike an opponent in the face, without any acceptance of wrongdoing or punishment. It’s almost like all of us who saw with our own eyes are being gaslighted. As if id didn’t happen.

So let's get this right then, it's OK for the FA to release details of what happened in my opinion should be kept between Forest and the FA but if anyone at Forest diagrees with it and say something about it  undoubtedly we'd get another fine. So SM what would you want the owner to be like then perhaps a vicar or a choir boy with no passion for the club. It just seems you and a couple of others are turning against the big man who by your posts seems to do something wrong every week. Can I see a change of team to support because the big man is here for the long haul and you'll be moaning about him every week which kinda gets boring some times. EM isn't going to change so embrace it I'd say.

Besides, when have I moaned about Marinakis? When have I or anyone else on here suggested he is not a superb owner who we are lucky to have? Please don’t suggest if I make the slightest criticism I am anti greek, its not bloody FFTV here.

I don’t care how wonderful he is but spitting at a match official however incompetent is unacceptable. If the owner is doing that it reflects badly on the rest of the club and ultimately leads to lack of discipline on the pitch too. Being passionate does not excuse that behaviour.

I do however think the punishment is aligned to recent history and the infamous tweet. If you suspect anyone other than EM being responsible for that too you are fooling yourself. Whether he should have got a heavier punishment because of that is open to debate but I don’t doubt the FA are out to make an example of him. For that reason we need to be squeaky clean not descending to their level.

I do however agree with TT above, its galling that they can review Jackson's punch and say nothing to see yet we get this thrown at us.

At no point have I said your anti Greek so let's get that right please. What i am saying is that you need a patience of a saint not to blow a fuse by the crap that has been thrown at us from day 1 of us being back in this league. I agree that spitting is the lowest form of anything and there's no excuse for it. Yes I agree with TT as well that there is a two tier discipline and because we have an owner who has passion (perhaps too passionate but not in my eyes) we'll always be a not for a better word a victim from the authorities. As for that tweet I'm not condoning it but if the subject was true and whoever it was was a Luton fan then he shouldn't of been the VAR i think. If the authorities won't entertain a chat with us but will with other teams then there is a serious problem so we do need to keep calling it out.

You should take your rose tinted specs off. Spitting in the stride of someone is an aggressive and delplorable act, regardless of circumstance. And anyway, some unfortunate soul has got to clean that floor after he's gobbed all over it. 

I like Marinakis very much (I was backing him on here when many weren't) but he's pushing acceptable boundaries for me now and someone needs to be advising him to back off.

Trouble is the league hasn't had an owner like ours before so the acceptable boundaries your saying about is all new to the league because no owner has had the balls to do what EM is doing. What will you do if he doesn't change then ?
