My eyes lit up when I saw that Rodri hadn't come out for the second half.
I thought the footballing Gods were on our side and it was going to be our night.
Only for the usuual disappointment to follow.

Thought the same, especially after the Bellingham sub that turned out not to be a sub. If players are questioning your authority its time to go. He's put us on the map again of world football but time for someone else to take us to the next level. Really need to pick the team based on positional ability and not let players question your authority.

Why don't we go for a world class manager.
Can we at least try even if we fail.
We have a very good and youngish squad and we are an attractive proposition.
Which coach doesn't want to have World Cup winner on his CV?
Go for Pep, Ancelotti or Klopp.
If they don't want the job then fair enough but can we at least try?
The thought of Gerrard, Lampard or Carsley fills me with dread.
We have a world class squad and we need a world class manager.

I think Carsley plays a different brand of football. His U21's won the European cup beating everyone on the way including Spain.

Sam Allardyce was interviewed on Sky Sports News yesterday and it was horrendous.
Firstly bemoaning how English players' opportunities were restricted in the Premier League because of 'foreign imports.' This was said without a hint of irony and conveniently forgetting the make-up of his Bolton teams with the likes of Djorkaeff, Okocha, Hierro and loads of others. But then going on to call the Premier League 'the best league in the world.' Well you can't have it both ways. If you want the best league you need the best players and managers and most of those are not English.
Then moaning that English managers were also restricted and saying that he 'Couldn't stand another foreigner as manager.' Borderline xenophobic and ridiculously short-sighted.
Surely we should just want the best candidate, whether they come from England, Germany. Guatemala or Mars. Though Mars probably has a better standard of manager than England at the moment.
I'd be quite happy if we appointed Klopp, were he interested. He'd make sure this crop of players didn't lose wondering what might have been.
