Intrigued by Nixon’s latest comment - saying that the delay in announcing Keane is ‘personal’.

I am not an expert on Twitter but found a thread of chat, seems all his answers are intriguing, seems like he is a computer that anyone from any team in any league can ask him a question and he usually gives some clarity.  Though he doesn't do detail, all 1 liners usually max of 5 words.

Couldn't find the tweet but if it was 5 words long and contains 'delay' and 'personal' that is ok, obviously prefer he was here now and at training tomorrow but this has all possibly happened very quickly, might not been on the radar at all last week.

Compared to last years hiring and firing this is all going like a dream

Delay .. hopefully means he'll be there at the City Ground … tomorrow … hope he doesn't hold out for the 40 gun salute and insist on appearing on the banks of the trent in HMS Brittania to disembark with a fanfare of buglers

Dont buy the theory that he delay in announcing Keane is because the club want to create a theatrical moment at todays press conference. Just my hunch but there's clearly as issue with regard to Keane coming. It cant take 3 or 4 days to agree the straightforward employment of a number 2.

Again, just my hunch, but issues could be:

1) Just pure money - we want to pay him what we think is commensurate with an assistant manager at a 2nd division club, he wants more;
2) He wants a contractual assurance that he automatically takes over as No1 after MON retires, or receives compensation appropriate to this arrangement if either are sacked before this happens;
3) He's seen that the club sack their managers every 12 months and so wants a big compensation clause in the event of this happening - the club are resisting;
4) He doesn't fancy the role as a number 2 and still thinks he can get a job as a No1 elsewhere;
4a) Another club are about to sack their manager and have approached Keane on the quiet to sound him out;
6) The club have a new director of football / sporting director / management system in place and they're trying to agree (or impose) a job description on him that he's uncomfortable with;
7) There's a personal issue in his life at the moment (we all have them from time to time) that means work matters take a lesser priority and it'll all get sorted out in a few more days.

It's a possibility without knowing for sure.  'The Balance of Power.'

I'm not sure Keane would have someone coming to sit on the bench with him...I can only imagine the fireworks.

But if Martin is happy with the set up, I would have thought it would have been a formality for Keane.

Still, Keane is his own man.  Always has been.
