Crap Referees
It also seems like a story that a reporter would want to publish if they knew about it.

Was that clattenburgs personal opinion, or professional opinion saying it on behalf of Forest and giving the PGMOL the go ahead to stay with the selected officials

Also apparently I must have missed it but Sky sports said Chris Kavanagh had got injured in the run up to our game which is why Anthony Taylor was swapped in.

Must be the fire time this season a ref injury has shaped our game…

Theres more. full tweet:

@DTathletic

For what it's worth, I spoke to PGMOL *on Friday* to ask whether Attwell's appointment might be a problem for #NFFC, especially given their previous VAR/refereeing issues this season.

So for some extra context/background

The response from PGMOL was pretty emphatic: that Mark Clattenburg had a) told Howard Webb he didn’t have a problem with Attwell (a Luton fan) being VAR b) merely flagged up that it might be raised at Nuno's Friday press conference (it wasn’t)

I was surprised, as I knew Clattenburg had been in touch and that it would be a ‘thing’ if it was Olympiacos

So anyway, something doesn't quite add up.

Clattenburg has told #NFFC's owners his call to Howard Webb on Friday morning was to make a complaint about Attwell. And they believe him. PGMOL, meanwhile, maintain it was nothing of the sort.

I guess we'll find out one way or another when NFFC get the (inevitable) FA charge.

PGMOL not commenting on the record and Clattenburg, unlike previous games, didn't talk to media post-match (bar tomorrow's Daily Mail column)

Either way, another chaotic day in a chaotic season

PGMOL have crossed the line this season, how pathetic is it that games get decided by blatantly wrong decisions. I don’t care if we are poor today we have been denied 2/3 opportunities to score.

Reality is that we as forest fans should just be happy to be in the league and grateful. The pundits, the media and the pl could not give two fecks about our var issues or our bad luck. Obviously, if what happened today would happen in Everton's next home game to Liverpool it will probably the biggest scandal particularly if the person in charge of var was a man city or arsenal fan. But that's because they have a god given right to be in this league and they are important. We are not

We are here to make up the numbers. We are not here to try and compete. Be happy to be a Brighton or a wolves. How dare we kick up a fuss.

We will get no sympathy and no one cares.

On the other hand, today made me worry about the absence of team leaders. When decisions go against us, the team just seem to use it as an excuse to give up. The sense of injustice seems to have a detrimental impact. This comes from the manager who also now finds it too easy to divert attention from a poor performance to ref decisions.

And yes, that Coventry decision was a joke. You can only wonder what would happen if the show was on the other foot (excuse the pun) and man utd had scored.

Have to question - integrity.
But the team also have to stop using every decision that goes against the side as a reason to give up.

Enough is enough.

Well done NFFC for embarrassing what appears to be a corrupt cartel of officials

Let the world know, the Premier League is a joke.

Totally. Whilst tbh I felt embarrassed when I first saw the tweet and of course would rather us not put that kind of message out, for me this is completely on the PGMOL. They have failed to address the standard of referring in the PL despite week after week seeing clear errors. In what employment would people get to make so many mistakes and still keep their job. What bosses would keep their roles overseeing such poor performance? As for Attewell. Whether it was biased or not the PGMOL put Attewell in that position and they should have known better. By having him in position for this game they simply invited criticism of both him and them.

Was just reading Tails article and he makes a good point that I've not heard and had kind of been overlooked.

It makes no sense to put Atwell as the VAR for this game due to his Luton connection. However, you could make a good argument for which result suited Luton better. Arguably they'd have preferred a draw. Particularly given they still have to play Everton.

No real reason for him to show bias either way.

Saying and believing there is bias is one thing. Proving bias is quite another.

I simply don't believe that there is enough evidence to prove anything.

Or another way to look at it. Everton winning has put them 5pts clear and less likely to need to beat Luton when the two team meet. It also keeps Forest only 1 pt above Luton and given both teams run in a much better opportunity to stay up.

That said was it corruption? Not in my view. Just very bad officiating and that is at the PGMOLs and Webbs door as they do nothing to improve the standards.

If I'm Luton I would rather have a chance to overtake Everton by beating them than giving them confidence but I see your point.

The main point is its not clear that Luton get an advantage so accusing them of bias is a bit of a non argument.

This is where our argument falls down.
VAR is a team of 6, not just Attwell. Were they all Luton fans? Of course not.

Is Attwell incompetent like the rest of them? Absolutely
Is VAR killing the game (see FA cup semi) and should it be scrapped? 100%
Were the officials in charge yesterday biased/cheats? No. Thats too far.
