Sorry but, hell No.
we would get overrun. I have not seen much difference in the performances under Nuno. same mistakes keep costing us the points

The mistakes are the same but the performances are much better and more enjoyable to watch and more positive, we are actually trying to win games now.
I think some have forgot just how turgid it became during Cooper's last games in charge.
For me Nuno has been a breath of fresh air. Just so frustrating that we haven't got the points on the board.

Totally agree Sniff. If people can't see the improvement then they shouldn't be going. If it wasnt for Luton's recent resurgence and this ffp thing we'd be assessing Nuno's start much more favourably.

I agree too.
Whilst ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ aren’t points, we can all point to half a dozen specific games where a bad few minutes, lack of experience or a refereeing decision has literally cost us points. Taiwo penalty last weekend. Bolly sending off. The list goes on. It’s not unreasonable to argue that we should have 10 points more than we have now and that’s not rose tinted specs. However it’s been happening all season under both Cooper and Nuno though.

I didn’t know where to put this but without set pieces and penalties we have the 8th best defence in the league. Open play we are a decent, Let’s just hope Nuno and his staff can sort the set pieces out.

At some point Howard Webb needs to admit there has been A LOT of refereeing mistakes that has cost us a good 10-15 points if not more over the last couple of seasons and just sending a letter apologizing isn't good enough. I can certainly see why Nuno is getting miffed with the calibre of refs in this league and whether you like it or not the so called big clubs do get given an easier ride from the refs and it needs to stop.

Football being played at present is starting to be enjoyable (except for the results) We look an exciting team going forward just need to play the club bus at the back and we will be OK!

We need to do whatever it takes to start winning even if it is reverting to low block and playing for second balls or else it’s goodbye premier league. We are on an abysmal run of form again. New manager bounce is well over now. Nuno needs to show he can get results.

Or if all our 2-3 defeats were 3-2 wins we'd be 6th. Means nothing sadly.
Ultimately if my Auntie was my Uncle she'd be a man. Freekicks and corners are nearly always won in open play as are penalties. Eg. The corner we conceded against Bournemouth was unnecessary.
We need to improve our defending full stop.
As for MGW in midfield. He scares me enough when he gets the ball up high. Plus although his work rate is fantastic, he was nowhere near any Newcastle players for most of his time in the CM role.
He has a certain skill set (super quick feet, fantastic control and work rate, huge confidence) that make him a nailed on #10 in the modern game. Back in the day Cloughie would probably have played him wide left or more likely sold him! He is so close to being a really really special player. Nearly..

It is good to see some people being realistic about MGW, he's a good player and has development potential but at present he's not at the level of Maddison, Gallagher etc. This is where you'd hope he'd progress to within next couple of years, Maddison for example is being trusted to get on the ball deep but only when he has Sarr and Hoijberg behind him, similar type of player.

I think we got a taste of what MGW could be in the two wins after Christmas, at 24? it's all about becoming consistent. The thing is when he plays well we tend to win, he is that important.
If he can reach those levels in half our remaining games we stay up no problem. Big ask though.

Agreed, manager has faith in him but really want to see him kick on next season (all being well in the PL)
