Nuno - won 2 lost 3 league games- Man U, Newcastle, Brentford, Bournemouth, Arsenal. 6 points - par for the course- lost the 2 winnable games and won 2 difficult out of 3. Need something from next 2 really.

I'd love to hear the explanation for stopping the gane fir Saka injury but not Montiel.

I'm not one for 'ref is biased' nonsense but that was dodgy.

I didn’t think ithe atmosphere was that bad. Arsenal sideways crab football first half sent everyone to sleep - they were well drilled as arteta wasn’t going to lose here again!  UNO also acknowledged that the team need to give the fans something to go off - think he was a bit frustrated with them to be honest.

Taiwo was really good - they were S**t scared of him and gave us something to play off. Also, after our goal they really S**t themselves on their bench.

We were at different games then mate. 

In the first half a heated exchange broke out in the A Block about “getting behind the team”. It was so quiet in the ground that you could hear every word. 

On another occasion parts of the Bridgford stand half heartedly started singing “A Block, A Block, give us a song” to which no more than 100 people started singing. 

There were also at least two occasions where players gesticulated to the crowd to get behind them and the response was, being generous, muted.

I know Montiel gave the ball away which led to Arsenals second goal but he was good last night.

He pretty much had Martinelli in his pocket all night and he also headed away most of what got chucked into our box (I appreciate that sort of thing goes unnoticed) but if anyone watches the game back you will see it.

He also got another assist, I make that 4 now second only to Elanga I believe although I haven't checked that.

Darren Fletcher on commentary had him down for MOTM before the second goal.

People will jump on him and slag him off but I actually felt sorry for the bloke because up until the second goal and even after it he was excellent.

Loads of teams lose to arsenal and they are more advanced than us with the players and experience. So I'm not annoyed we lost. I'm just frustrated that two mistakes cost us again. Nuno needs to figure out how to stop these from happening so often. Players will make errors but we make to many right now and costly ones at that.

However we conceded a goal from that daft free kick at Brentford and last night we conceded two goals, one from a throw in and one from our own corner kick.

I honestly don't think we are far away from being a decent side but we have to cut out the school boy errors.

I agree with that, Arsenal creating nothing first half, the goals were very poor, against a very good side, Taiwo nearly got the equaliser at the end. We weren’t awful, but we did give them too much respect.

Made a point of watching Montiel last night. Yes thought he was good for the most part too, tracked Martinelli well as you said. He is pretty small which counts against him but still won a good number of headers. (Just reread your post -yes I did notice it!)
The goals, thought he was asleep for the first as was the rest of the defence. 2nd goal did come directly from his mistake but in his defence he was trying to set up a quick break.
He also did a superb overlapping run first half when Wood, I think, should have fed him through on goal. Got an assist, more of a hopeful header across but at least he was up there trying to make something happen unlike some (cough..Hudson Odoi…cough).

So to sum up he was good against Newcastle Man U and Arsenal. Poor against Blackpool Brentford and Brizzle. What does that tell you? Only gets up for big games? Doesn’t like teams beginning with B?
Wish he could find some consistency.
Overall if we do get relegated and I am increasingly worried, its the individual mistakes and soft goals that will do it.

Also, a word for Chris Wood.

Their defence couldn’t cope with him first half and he caught them dwelling on the ball a couple of times.

His contribution in Taiwo’s absence has been excellent and it deserves recognition.

Had he missed the opportunity that Taiwo didn’t take at the end of the game he would have got pelters on here (see the Blackpool home thread). That isn’t a criticism of Taiwo, more a sad indictment as to the inconsistency of some of the fan base.

I hope its only a confidence thing with Hudson-Odi because everytime we make a break he seems to stop in the last third of the opponents half and see what happening and then move inside. That usually breaks down. A few time the move should have been to pass to the runner on his left.
