Wasn’t he injured at the start of preseason with an ankle injury and unable to play and was in light training only? I think some suggested at the time it may be a ruse as we were expecting to sell him. If recall correctly he was only 50/50 for the first league game. Could it be that he wouldn’t have been able to pass a medical or clubs wouldn’t have signed him at that point? Yes I’m clutching at straws but maybe that is a further mitigating factor?

Would that not work against us if he was injured as we couldn't sell him therefore invalidating our claim we could've sold him?

There is nothing in the rules that says that you cannot sell an injured player.

Not many teams want to buy injured players, I've heard it's not a great strategy

That is not the point. The point is that we still could have sold him whether he was injured or not.

Well if he would've failed a medical I'm unconvinced the panel would agree with you. Obviously you can technically sell an injured player but practically I'd imagine teams would prefer to wait until he passes a medical. £30m+ is a lot for a guy that might have a long standing injury.

Man united signed hojland this very summer knowing he was injured and couldn't play for the first part of the season

Yeah I agree it can be done but in this case, the fact remains that it wasn't.

I just don't see how a panel could allow us to use the £30m if there is evidence that Brennan wasn't interested in moving and injured and didn't move until late August. Obviously just my opinion but I really don't hold out much hope on that one personally.

I see the newspapers are out in force today saying how we will be in huge financial trouble if relegated as the players contracts don't have pay-cut clauses. Goes on to say how we will have to fire sale our players blah blah ... then back how we are getting the same 10 point reduction as Everton. Seems like the this staged winter break is just allowing newspaper more time cause mischief.

That and other things said by the Premier league CEO could be the basis of our legal appeal if it goes down that route.

Led us up the garden path.

I think it could get ugly if they try to deduct points.

No way we will roll over like a soppy old dog.
