Jonjo Shelvey - Thanks for the Memories

The background checks could well have shown up 'clean'.

So are we questioning Worralls background too?

Nobody can argue that Shelvey was the worst example. When he arrived he got into the side straight away and was dreadful. That performance and attitude from it at Villa was unforgettable. Some of his behaviour off the pitch also sounds dreadful. I am glad he is no longer at the club. I agree with Wassy that our squad is a bottom is not really any better than the position  we are in. Our strongest 11 is weaker than last season. The goalkeeper positions are much weaker. We miss a fit Fellipe and Taiwo and are weaker for the loss of Brennan. Midfield options are stronger. Cooper did a brilliant job as Forest manager. If Nuno only does half as well i will be pleased.

But he is responsible for a huge amount of that what you have described above.

Sadly that is true

Another thing that gets on my nerves about recruitment bashing is the fact that nobody mentions all the players that Steve wanted and EM went out and got them for him.

100M went on just 3 players (although there are many more) who Steve was desperate to sign. 45M on MGW, 35M on Sangare and 20M on Wood.

I am sure Steve is very very grateful for that kind of backing. He is unlikely to ever get it again in his future career.

Also another point that gets easily overlooked when it comes to recruitment is what happened last January. We were more or less rock bottom and odds on to get relegated. Then EM turns down bids for Johnson, goes out and gets Navas, Felipe and Danilo who all played a huge roll in us eventually staying up.

Yes some criticism of recruitment is deserved but some praise is also well and truly deserved too.

Are you seriously suggesting we paid £45m for MGW?

Regarding Jonjo there is some rewriting of history here in terms of his performances, particularly from two games:

1. West Ham away. He was excellent and held them team together. It was no coincidence that he left the pitch and we conceded four goals;
2. Aston Villa away. He didn’t put a foot wrong until his terrible pass that gifted them the goal. He was excellent until then. Unfortunately that pass had a major effect on him and the team and no doubt caused some friction that ultimately lead to him being shown the door.

I’m not saying he was the messiah. I’m just pointing out that he actually put in a couple of decent performances that seem to have been forgotten because it’s easier to criticise.

I do hope the full truth of Worrall’s conduct comes out at some point.

Have I missed something about Joe? I see his birthday tweet is getting a lot of hate.

Not to confuse anyone here. I think Worralls background is excellent.

Aye that's what I was saying, he came in to be brave and get us passing from deep. He did that. Mistakes cost him and possibly (we'll never know) affected relationship with cooper

Thought the crux of it was him prima donna-ing when he got dropped to the bench for Liverpool

You mean where he was frustrated not to be playing and displayed that frustration in the wrong manner?

At least he wasn't leaking teamsheets on Twitter prior to them being released.

Interesting interview for Under the Cosh.

Up to you if you take it at face value. Claims Cooper told him that he wasn’t allowed to play him again (by order of ownership presumably) after his mistake vs Villa. Reported for preseason training and describes being in bomb squad. Then the cock up about terminating his contract (we had already loaned out the maximum 9 players) his option was to terminate or stick playing woth the kids and Harry Arter. Kind of feel sorry for him but I accept this is one side of events and there may be another side to it.
