They've changed their interpretation of the rules to try and limit what powers the independent regulator will put in so they might want to look strong.

I that is the case then I would say we could have some legal argument of If you do it to one you do it to everyone but there again it depends how long the changing of the rules took and how long teams had to know and get used to the new rules but I think whatever happens we'll put in a good legal argument hence the hiring of this lawyer.

I would prefer us not to cheat.

Especially after taking the line that Everton deserve everything that comes to them.

Surely we would’ve been investigated in March last year if we were found not to compliant so surely we were within 39m
So this season we would’ve had to lose 30m+ which I think is impossible 
Plus Nicholas Randall would’ve been handling these sets of accounts that just been submitted, If a KC how’s allowed us to break the rules then that’s shocking 
Randall’s reputation would be at an all time low if so 

I actually think other clubs will break FFP and not us 
We are an easy target so naturally we are going to be scrutinised

Accounts are submitted in arrears, so we only submitted our accounts for last season 3 days ago, so the investigation for that season will have only just started. The investigation last year would've been purely for the EFL version of FFP for the last three years of championship football. Presumably we passed that once you removed the promotion bonuses from the accounts. 

Nicholas Randall is not an accountant or an auditor or even working for the club anymore so not really sure what he has to do with anything either.

Why would we have been investigated in March when the accounts are made up to June?

The alleged breaches relate to last season not this- we will be well within FFP on a 3 year rolling basis this season as a) we sold brennan for £47m and b) our losses allowance will have increased by £22m as one of the championship season’s accounts fall away and we can include another PL season with a higher loss allowance (£35m).

Well those figures at least suggest Forest did know exactly what they were doing and kept within rules so far.

To me, the phrase included in the club statement about long-term financial sustainability “as the PL rules intended” indicates there is a risk that there may be a technical breach of the rules.

The reference to promotion bonuses gives a further clue as to the (main) area of doubt.

The issue will be on the interpretation of whether those payments fall inside or outside FFP.
This is the bit we don’t/can’t know and for which we will have to wait for news.

I suspect they fear for a jobsworth with renewed zeal inside the PL.

Forest’s wording is clearly already setting up a general defence with this in mind if the PL’s interpretation doesn’t go in our favour; that the delayed Brennan sale was in the greater interest of financial stability rather than a technical and arbitrary breach a few weeks earlier on the balance sheet date.

It’s the old ‘letter of the law’ vs ‘intention of the law’ argument IF the bonuses are interpreted within FFP.
