If we believe the article or not of course

It was reported by Will Unwin in the Championship season too, but we went for Keinan Davis instead!

Premier League clubs will learn in the next two weeks if any will face charges for new breaches of financial rules, with Nottingham Forest seen by experts as being most at risk.

Forest are considered to be sailing close to the wind because of their heavy spending while in the Championship and since winning promotion, and there are also concerns that Everton could face a second charge in consecutive seasons of breaching profit and sustainability rules (PSR).

Under a new system brought in by the Premier League for this season, charges for straightforward breaches will be fast-tracked and dealt with by early April, with any points deductions applied to this campaign. Everton were charged last season but had a ten-point penalty imposed in November, which

Literally a non story, who are the experts
We’ve got a 35m net spend this season? Which is like 5th lowest in the league
Marinakis wouldn’t allow us to go over.

Let's hope it's a non story then.

It would be rules for last season and the 2 years before that. The money we got for Johnson wouldn’t come in to it. I would be surprised if we have exposed ourselves seeing as it was unclear whether we would go straight back down.

We upset the establishment last year with our spending. We have always been the right side under EM so I can’t see it. Selling Brennan Johnson was supposed to give us wiggle room. Also debt to equity is in the permitted losses.

It's based on last season, accounts run a year in arrears. So it's based on our accounts for last season which have yet to be made public however the transfer fees etc have been so it's possible to speculate. Given we didn't sell BJ till after the fi ancial year end would imply we were confident of meeting FFP.

It would be a pretty spectacular error if we failed given we could've sold Brennan in June to meet it if necessary. I'm guessing the only way we could've failed it is if we believed some costs could be written off that couldn't be and there was a disagreement with the PL. That said I think clubs usually run it by the PL as they go to avoid it being too late to resolve it so it'd be very surprising.

That said the PL initially told Everton they agreed with their covid write offs so don't rule out them changing some of ours later.

This is Kieran Maguire's reply to a Forest fan who noticed Maguire was quoted in the article and asked about it. Looks like it's likely not too much to worry about at the moment:

'The Times asked me which club was closest to the limit and based on Forest only being able to lose £61m over three years and their spending last season they don’t have a lot of wiggle room. Not the same as saying they have breached the limit though.'
