Not sure tonight has made any difference to my thinking really. Didn't expect anything against spuds. Think if our confidence wasn't so shot, we'd probably have taken at least one of the chances we missed/got saved.
Not sure a midfield of Yates, kouyate and mangala is the answer though. Bit too much industry there especially given the 2 wingbacks of toff and Williams are relatively defensive for wingbacks.

It just isn’t working with MGW, he simply isn’t performing at a level that his price demands, he is the real issue for us.

I do wonder where that guy that scored loads of goals in the championship has gone though. He just seemed much more incisive that season before we bought him.

Seriously, without a striker if another manager came in does anyone think we will do any better? Sounded to me like Hodge thinks it’s time for Steve to go. I think the fans would accept it now, but honestl I don’t see anyone doing any better. Hope I’m wrong!
A new manager would likely put Origi straight in as striker, set the team up well, utilising all the signings we have, maybe recalling some from loans who Cooper does not like...........and we might start winning games.
Cooper has got rid of many - and its been said countless times Wood was Coopers signing, JJ Shelvey was Coopers signing etc..... he has the players he wants be he is very limited. Now he is in Championship mode.......lots of huff and puff and no quality. We play worse football than Luton FFS............. This is the end of a manger - when they ignore most of their squad and pick only the ones huffing and puffing on the training ground.......that means he has lost most of the dressing room and is playing just "his" players. Cooper needs to go - new coach comes in - has January to sort things out and saves us from relegation.

I don’t think Cooper can be accused of not using most of his squad, apart from the Santos maybe. He can be accused of the opposite eg making too many changes from week to week. The results stem from poor recruitment. As others have said, we don’t have a premier league goalkeeper and our striker options are probably the worst in the division. The Brennan money should have been used for a striker to compete with Taiwo. £60 million on transfer fees alone spent on Wood Shelvey and Sangare. None are good enough to get in a premier league starting 11.

None are good enough to get in a premier league starting It's not just recruitment but who we have let go - particularly upfront. Shelvey and wood were poor deals. Some complained at the time - the money for wood was insane. But in the summer we sold Johnson, surridge and loaned out dennis and released lingard. Now I'm not saying any of these would change our predicament but I would rather see surridge and Dennis on the bench rather than wood and origi. At least both were able to move. As for sangare, I would reserve judgement. Players can take time to settle. But the fact that we are playing Kouyate and Yates... ahead of Santos- he must either be shite or... well he must be shite. Begs the question why we signed him.

What is all this no striker stuff?
We had two sitting on the bench scratching their balls. Why haven't we found a way to get the best out of Wood or Origi. Why haven't we found a way to get MGW firing and don't get me started on free kicks and corners because they are pathetic. So many things we can improve on with or without Taiwo but I suppose not having Taiwo is just a lazy and easy excuse to use.
Panic on the streets of Croydon, Derby, Sheffield, Leicestershire.

I think Sangare is a good player - the question is, whats wrong with the tactics/coaching to make him play bad..........
A new coach, someone more tactical, might make Sangare play as one of the very best in the division.........we will not know until we get a new coach. Just look at a certain Brazilian, who played less than 200 minutes and shipped out because Cooper "did not like his training attitude".......... but when he did play, he looked better than MGW. MGW has caused us so many problems - he gives the ball away leading to goals, he fumbles and loses the ball.............I am sure that when a new coach comes in that MGW will be told to sort himself out and start playing for the team, not for himself all the time. Another Cooper weakness..........giving MGW free reign.......when he is not up to it at PL level at the moment. Given the squad we have......I am not blaming the players, I am blaming the coach and his poor coaching staff for all the problems...... And it must be resolved BEFORE Luton overtake us........and we are in the bottom 3. |
