I asked a really good question yesterday but not one single person answered it.

So I will ask it again and there is no agenda behind it it's just a question.

So, are fans who are backing Cooper and constantly chanting his name during matches going to take responsibility if Steve gets us relegated?

No. They will just say... Steve is the right man to take us back up straight away. But won't understand the millions we have just lost out on.. as long as coops is here they don't care.. it's got that bad iv actually seen a bloke on twitter buy an expensive cheese hamper and sent it to cooper because he deserves it

I think this is important because I have it on good authority now that the fans support for Steve is putting off potential replacements. That is all well and good for the die hard Steve fans.

However like I said are they going to take responsibility if Steve takes us down and then he boggers off to Palace and leaves us in the Championship.

Well if that's true then the ownership will be at fault for not having the balls to sack him when it counts sadly.. they will be both to blame.. and Glasner will end up at palace as they have wanted him before. So if he is a actually lead candidate then they need him asap

There has definitely been a change in attitude from a lot of fans over the past few weeks. I believe if Cooper is sacked the new manager will get support, but a lot will depend on who it is.

Imagine the scene though. A new manager comes in, we go a couple of goals down in his first match in charge and the fans start chanting Stevie Cooper. How is the new man going to deal with that.

This whole thing is starting to turn into a bit of a mess and like SM said we need some clarification one way or the other and we need it soon.

I can even sniff a bit of a divide creeping in after reading some things on social media etc.

Perhaps I am thinking too much and getting too deep into it I don't know but I fail to see how this present situation we currently find ourselves in is doing us any good.

For me once Steve leaves he leaves and that is the end of the Cooper chanting, from being in one of those away ends, it was more of a thank you and goodbye than actually wanting him to stay for the majority.

It was thanking him for all he has done and he will be forever welcomed back to attend any games.

I think it has been lost in translation but totally get why that may put people off. I'd want them to have the confidence in themselves that they will deliver results if they were appointed though, it could be there name that is chanted like that next.

I believe gave you a balanced answer to your wider question yesterday but Im not accepting this particular point.

So you are blaming the fans for supporting the manager? You would prefer them to boo him and shout Cooper Out?

Back at you, if we were to change manager and it all goes wrong (an equal possibilty) are the Cooper out faction going to take responsibility for relegation and its inevitable consequnces and probabale backlash agianst the ownership?

The situation needs strong ownership.

I'd rather the fans be backing the manager than turning on him and booing - I hope that's not what you're wanting us to do

Juts like Clough, he'll be very hard to replace - but we will and if we get success, we'll back them too

Of course not SM but don't you get my point?

Lets not forget we are talking about a manager who has won 3 games out of 17 this season.

No manager would escape being questioned after a run like that and I don't care who he is.

I am trying to debate this in a nice friendly manner. Is there blind loyalty towards Steve from a large section of our fanbase, are they putting Steve before the good of the football club? I honestly don't know but I think it's fair to ask.

Of course a new man coming in guarantees nothing we all know that already.

To be successful any manager needs the support of
1. The team
2. The fans

If he apparently still has both then surely you do not criticise their opinion but endeavour to find out what isn’t working. Then it is up to the owner/ DOF to make an informed and clear decision one way or the other.
