Evertonians are starting to believe even with minus 12 theyve a shot at staying up given how poor the promoted teams have fared

I was thinking the exact same thing the other day. If I were them, I'd probably take a -12 point punishment if it gave them a clean sweep in terms of their finances. 

However, don't the punishments usually come with a transfer ban etc? I think that would be problematic for them.

Last few games have shown that they have a squad and a manager who could probably still stay above those 3, even without re-reinforcements. I see only Burnley throwing money around in Jan, blades have already pretty much said they've got no cash, Luton similar.

I was thinking more about the summer if it were an 18 month transfer ban. Along with liklihood of a stronger division with the teams likely to come up and go down.

Everton apparently in line to receive a 12 point deduction as soon as this week.

Hmm actually perhaps not - think it might be from a fake account.

Its one thing deducting points from Derby and Reading, clubs that were badly run and relatively obvious cases. Quite another when its Premier League clubs with hundreds of millions at stake, and owners who will chuck in every resource to a nebulous legal case.

I will believe when I see it. Think a fine and a suspended points deduction is most likely.

It's such incredibly convenient timing for the league, allows them to show strength and probably won't end up being a consequential punishment.

Can someone explain the above to me? Are we trying to get money off Everton? That would seem to be opportunistic and in poor taste seeing as we survived anyway?

Maybe the club feel they had to spend unnecessarily due to others having an unfair advantage.
