We only led for about 30 seconds so I'm not sure we had time to retreat into any shell

We should have won at Palace, should have beat Luton and should have beaten a poor Burnley side. We were lucky to beat Sheff U. I still think we need a big step up in terms of making ourselves harder to beat. We're conceding soft goals against teams that are hardly world beaters. It's criminal to throw away a 2-1 lead away from home like we did today. Clearly we switched off after taking the league and thinking the job is done. They equalised within 40 odd seconds. Just not good enough.

It literally makes no sense to criticise the team for playing well and losing but then also criticise for not playing well and winning. It's not criminal, it's a game of football. It's frustrating to concede so quickly but no-one is going to prison!

That said Dominguez mistake at the start probably deserves at least community service

I don’t think we did play well today. We got caught on the break several times and West Ham were very wasteful. Soucek hit the bar when he should have scored. Vlachodimos kept us in it with a couple of good saves. How many clear chances did we create? West Ham aren’t an especially good side. Their main threat is from set pieces and we constantly gave them set piece opprtunities. Very naive

Why does Cooper always make 3 subs when a game is still in the balance. All our momentum was lost
Only Murillo was injured?

Taiwo had two massive chances that he missed, MGW had one too, Origi almost scored at the end. That enough?

First 3 subs complaint, who had this in Cooper bingo?

Taiwo cant play more than 70 mins, Wood also had some nice touches and is a good positive sub.

How about some praise for the Danilo sub which seemed to have a positive impact initially?

Your rose tinted glasses get good use Wassy.

Matched them on xG, gave them a few goal, got ahead through some good football. Just got done on a few corners, what do you expect? We're not Man City.

xG...meaningless stat. proper goals 3-2
We looked like rabbits in the headlights once we lead.
Poor defending cost us.
Just got done on a FEW corners? I lost count of corners and set pieces they had which indicates their attacking intent. Our poor away performances are the norm. Not a deal has changed from last season, better performances...maybe..but overall usual service has been resumed.

It's not a meaningless stat, it shows approximately how likely each team is to score from their combined chances. It certainly gives an indicator of quality of opportunities. They had 9 corners to our 4, we defended them well until they scored. Disappointing obviously but we lost in the last minute in a tight game. I'd hardly call that a terrible performance.

You are correct, Ive lost count how many times we have won points from a better or equal Xg surely we got one point today?
No that's right we didn't get any because they scored 1 more proper goal than us rather than some made up stat that didn't exist until 2012

Danillo - lost his man for equaliser.
Aina - poor from second goal kick off
Don’t know who was supposed to be picking up the third goal scorer.
Taiwo - should be going home with the match ball.

Also- aina - brilliant ball in for second goal
Danillo very composed passing leading to second goal

We are so much better than last year.

Cooper was furious though which he possibly should have done against Luton - first time he has ever questioned players after a game. Pressure? Bollockings - public ones -should only be used rarely.

For those that can’t see our progress though… we are light years better than last year. We do need some more attacking options off the bench and if we can get origi and CHO fit they may be the difference. West Ham have a settled squad and have bought exceptionally well. There is no shame in running them as close as we did. Their other losses have been with weakened teams…

So if we conceded 30 shots where they repeatedly missed 10 open goals and then we scored 1, that would be a good performance would it? We would've scored more goals after all.

We are clearly better than last season but our game management again today was poor. Giving away set pieces and the ball creating pressure from one of the best in the last ten years.

Can’t be bothered to read through the above because doubtless it will be full of people who only appear on here to moan about something.

We did OK but for individual mistakes. I said before kick off I didn’t want to see us giving away needless set pieces yet that’s exactly what we did and it cost us at least 1 point possibly all 3.

Story of the season away games so far, matching the opposition but coming away with nothing to show for it. But if you cannot see the improvement from this time last year you are blind.
