Liverpool - Nottingham Forest
Wildared, why must we expect/forget and move on every time? Is this how you want our club to perform in the PL with no ambition to improve and entertain? I don't believe SC has it in him to take us any further and appears to lack bravery in selections/substitutions and game plans.

We shouldn't expect shit performances or forget about them after after every game.. Brentford & Burnley opportunity missed and I was fuming after Luton. I just think a loss away to Liverpool who are on a decent run btw isn't the end of the world...

No maybe about it.. that performance today was like many from last season... Obviously not the same fixture but didn't realise I had to spell it out

Fair enough - generally we were crap away from home last year but not at Anfield. I know money has been spent but it does not guarantee success. The make up of the team is too defensive and we are not good enough going forward to play this way.

What brassed me off is not losing to Liverpool I can live with that but the manner in which we refused to commit players forward and our lack of pressing really pissed me off.

It's easy to start to commit players forward when you are 3-0 down and the opposition have gone into sleep mode but how about doing it from 1-0 down.

That is down to Steve in my opinion and it's my biggest gripe with him right now.

Yesterday was disappointing but it's tough when you don't have a fit CF, as showed with Elanga repeatedly offside. The game plan worked fine until Murillo gifted them a goal then the 3rd was just a complete howler.

All these people saying press more or we should've played more attacking? How and with who? We had no fit attackers even if we wanted to. We'd have just got taken apart like at home to Man Utd last year which was the last time Cooper tried playing attacking against a top side.

It doesn't matter who is fit and who Steve picks Wassy it's always the same thing refusing to commit players forward. Playing Elanga is nothing to do with it.

The bit I agree with Sniffer on is that we don’t seem to press as a team. A couple might and then you see the rest strolling around. Not sure why but we don’t seem to do it as effectively as others seem to.

As for attacking, think we have looked pretty good in most games. Im happy generally about how we play this season, yesterday was very poor but we were up against a much better team and without a recognised forward. Not denying though it was a tame surrender and I was very disappointed.

I have seen one or two have a pop at Murillo although I realise it's for no other reason other than some of us have been lauding him recently.

However, I hope that the coaching staff are going to keep encouraging him to bring the ball out from defence because it is something that should be applauded and it's a great asset for any team to have a CB who is capable of doing that.

Another frustrating away day for variety of reasons. Sorry about the lack of football positives, it was just one of those days (the first really rough one of the season).

Positives
- Aina and Taiwo fit.
- Yates cameo showed he is still here and can still do a job. (Best forward pass of the game). Especially after being written off by so many of our "in the moment" fans last week.
- Steak pies were very good.
- Turner kept score down first half.......
- Ainas block in 2nd half was superb.
- Found free parking.

Negatives
- The schoolboy errors keep happening and costing us.
- After 30 minutes we were never in the game.
- Even Boly wasn't quite his usual self. However after he left the field we looked wide open.
- Every centre back gave the ball away cheaply- obviously Murillos was particularly costly.
- Midfield were run ragged, especially by McCallister 1st half, we just couldn't get a foothold in the game.
- The 3rd goal was a microcosm of everything that went wrong on the day, Tried pressing and attacking instead of low block, but looked wide open to Liverpools pace (and quality) of break, then a daft basic error - only thing worse than a bad decision is being indecisive) gives Salah a simple finish.
- I could individually criticise virtually every one of the starting line up but to what purpose? My biggest concern us the individual errors creeping back in (well steaming more than creeping).
- Traffic getting out of Scouseville was its usual horrendous jam.
- Away support was OK until goals came, but there were alot of people about whome I really wanted to ask how/where they got hands on tickets as yhey certainly didn't seem invested in either team throughout game.
- The usual suspects will no doubt continue to blame Cooper, but I don't feel this one is on him. All 3 goals came when we had comfortable possession of the ball either attacking or with most of our players in their half and individual errors and/or turning it over cheaply cost us. Not to mention a total lack of a challenge on the edge of their area preceding the second goal which launched their break.

Last season a back to basics approach against Villa was the start of a good run of results. Maybe, despite a big outlay again (for us, but not for many other teams) we are not quite as good as we think we are. Villa are flying and their midfield is vibrant, athletic and fundamentally better than ours. Some need to step up and the basic errors need to be cut out. I'd probably change the keeper and I'd be perfectly happy to see Yates starting instead of Sangare, but would also be happy to see Sangare step up and show what he can do against arguably the most in form midfield at present. As for SC, I'm 100% pro as I think he has so much more to give as we develop. Yes last week's subs were - with hindsight- a clanger, but we are also being hit by injuries quite hard again. No CF fit to start (and Elanga looked like guy who climbed out of his sick bed for most part) but we need a positive result and performance sooner rather than later that is for sure.

Maybe needs to pick his moment a little better, although if he had got through I'd of fancied us to have a big chance
