Early days yet but after the first couple of matches, Forest are second in the league for xG against - behind only Man City. Considering we're missing Felipe and Niakhate it's encouraging that we've started the season a lot tighter at the back than we did last time round. And the three goals we have conceded have been one deflection and two unsaveable shots into the top corner.

My guess would be the 451 with a box midfield.

I'm hoping Aina plays as he at least gives us a pacey attacking threat

Now Johnson has gone I hope we dispense with the ridiculous goal kick routine from last season. You know the one, kick taken to Aurier on the right touchline at half way, supposedly for him to get a flick on to Johnson for him to run on to.
Great idea except 9 times out of 10 the result was Henderson or Navas booting it straight out of play for a throw in, don’t think it ever worked. Hopefully he doesn’t try the same trick but aiming for Elanga.

Expect us to play a 4-1-2-2-1 /4/3/3 formation .
With 2 attacking midfielders in mgw and 1 of danilo/elanga/CHO behind T .
Sangare will be the ever present 1 holding and 2 of dominguez/yates/mangala/santos/danilo as the fetchers in midfield box2box with 2 on the bench to change at 60 and push agai !! With Sangare and more athletic choice of 2 CB ‘s . The fullbacks can play higher providing width and we can change them at 60 .
Sangare is the linch pin loads of athleticism in cm and cam to still play on the transition but still retain the ball better .
Squad massively improved with so much depth.

I can't see him departing from 5-2-3 tbh.
As much as I think we'd all love to see a 4-2-3-1 to get best out of MGW I can't see him being that bold.

Could we see the return of the diamond formation not seen for a while but very successful under paul Hart , Billy Davis and even S O’D .
