Can we please please play a left back at left back. We need more speed than Kouyate in the middle. I also have to admit I don’t think Aurier is a RCB.

Dreadful performance at home. For the new boys. Santos too lightweight right now. Montiel doesn’t look like he could win a Nottinghamshire County Cup game never mind a World Cup. 3 right backs playing is not good.
Williams just doesn’t cut it. Woods didn’t offer anything upfront. Elanga tried but no final ball. Again no midfield. Turner distribution is terrible, he is a great shot stopper though, no chance with goal. Boly played on left and Niakate in middle which didn’t suit either Clearly set pieces are terrible but struggled to do throw ins in their half which end back up at Turner for him to kick the ball back to them. The subs came on too late and did little Bad night and coops needs to buck his ideas up and give these players a kick up the ass.

This won't be a season defining game. Playing in training I suspect is different from playing a competitive game and as such theses players were getting used to each other. Disappointed regarding the result but as long as we beat them in the league, it is far more important than this cup competition. Cooper could have had a free pass on this one, perhaps changed tactics and went on the front foot and maybe played a more possession based game without much criticism but it wasn't to be. No doubt there will be the Cooper out fringe shaking their heads that he will still be here tomorrow.

Surely you just want to mirror the league tactics so that when these guys come into the side they know their roles?

That was my first game watching Nottingham Forest as the chairmen of the club I love, I was very disappointed with the performance levels of most tonight. We will do our upmost to correct it before the window closes on Friday. As a squad we have to be better than that.

The owner will hate the result tonight. It means potentially less revenue. We did do well out the cup last season as we did in the fa cup the year before. We didn’t play kids so cannot say it was a weak team as such, just showed some players not up to it (or just making debuts).

Well that was pretty shocking. Feel sorry for so many people bringing young kids along for whom that will probably be the only chance they get to watch us all season. Doubt too many will be wanting to hurry back.
Midfield was poor to say the least, no outlet at all. Tonight showed why we desperately need a central midfielder who knows what to do with a football. At least Yates put himself about as usual. Santos is nowhere near ready. Think as a loan he takes a squad place? He needs to do much better to justify one. Wingbacks didn't work at all, it was basically a back 5. Montiel has some quality though. Elanga has pace but didn’t show enough. Lone forwards had no service. We need our first team on the pitch.

Because the league tactics are not sustainable in the long run, the low block ultra defensive approach doesn't work . The most successful teams, in every league on the whole are possession based with accurate, quick passing.Manchester City are the masters of it and they don't do too badly. Peps desciples, Artetta and now Kompany seem to have learnt this. Cooper persists with the defensive mantra which will be his undoing. |
