An interesting article that. Basically for me he takes responsibility for all the signings - ayew apart. Also FFP may be an issue medium term. I think he comes out of the interview OK. Tries to get in on the Steve Cooper achievement for me and paints himself as a voice of reason to the owners but easy time to do an interview - e.g if we had have been relegated he could’ve easily said - I told them to sack him…

Good read that.
Some interesting points. Makes it clear that he never had interference from the owners although points out that all owners get frustrated and question decisions at times. Strong relationship with Cooper and fought his corner. Wanted to stay but he was sacrificial pawn, basically somebody had to go so bitter about that. Pushed for Danilo, known about him a while, also involved in Navas and Felipe through his contacts. Ambiguous remark. “It came out that” Cooper was to be sacked and Viera appointed after Leeds defeat. Doesnt say if that was going to happen or if that was just a press report? Reads to me that we were very close to getting Viera in though?

He's just doing some pr to get the Watford sack the manager reputation out of the way so he can get back into a new club.

Twitter in full meltdown. I'd like to hear the full facts of why we have let him go before bashing the owners but I does seem rather bizarre considering he wanted to stay. Cooper did say many changes were needed behind the scenes, is this a Cooper decision maybe? |
