Just writing about signings and I just wondered if anyone knew the answer to this.
Why did we sign Hwang and Bowler? We knew neither could play for us once we loaned them to Oly. Hwang was already 30, were we really expecting a year in Greece would help him become a premier league level striker?
Bowler makes more sense, although it would've made way more sense to loan him back to Blackpool initially then if he did well we had the option to play him whereas by sending him to Oly that was not an option.
I'm guessing they were FFP moves to benefit Oly (which I'm fine with btw, not like they haven't done us a few favours in previous years)? Just wondering if there were any other theories out there?

The only other thing I can think of is that they might have been good Championship players if the worst had happened. But it didn't. So it wouldn't be a surprise now if we never see either of them play for Forest at all. In Bowler's case I think that's a bit of a shame as last season he looked a really exciting prospect for Blackpool. But I guess we need more than really exciting Championship prospects now.

I think it was good business sense getting Bowler in. If we went down it would have been a solid signing for next season. Now, i'd fancy a bet one of the promoted or relegated teams come in for him. Hwang i do agree was a bit odd.

My favourite rant this topic Wassy!
You can add Kapino, Tachsidis, Guerrero, Ioannou and probably half a dozen more I have forgotten about.
Sniffer’s argument is that we move them on in a year for a small profit and it helps with FFP.
My counter argument is that if we stopped p1ssing about with this sort of rubbish and invested the time properly scouting a smaller number of players we might get a better success rate. Not convinced when wages agents fees etc are taken into account we make much regardless.
But anyway it seems to be EMs way and seeing where we are currently at I reckon we just have to shrug and accept it.

Obviously there are some agent favours going on which in no doubt help elsewhere. Bowler was an insurance signing - hwang a favour- LOB the best championship CM and toffolo best LB. Made absolute sense to me.

I am not sure that any signings are ever pointless, some for whatever reason just don't work out but that doesn't make them pointless or poor players.
Look at Baide and Mir for example. They didn't manage to hit it off at Forest but are now Europa League winners and ripping it up in the top league in Spain.

Oh I dont know Sniff. Can you honestly say the likes of Diakhabi, Djebbour or Abdoun were anything but poor?
