Wood provides an alternative, what Cooper needs to decide is what that alternative is and make sure the team can adapt.
I'm happy with Wood as a 3rd choice next year, as long as they find a left footed Awoniyi/Davies clone.

Wouldn't read too much into that. At the moment it *was* his last game for us. Doesn't mean we can't strike a deal with Atlético though - plenty time to make it happen if all parties want to.

Doesn't particularly look like he wants to stay based on that. Didn't he say he hadn't seen his new born child. Might not want to relocate to the UK if his family don't want that.

I'm sure he'd move here if it was purely based on football terms.

To risk a backlash, I like Lodi and think he’s a very good player but for £25m or so, there’s a lot of alternative choices out there who might actually be better.

We might even have one already on the books if it isn’t really a bone disease and is only a contractual issue as our site boss implies.

Wondering if these rumours doing the rounds are true and the training ground bust up was a ruse?

Wood: we just took on his contract and payment schedule to Burnley from Newcastle. Not a great deal as Newcastle overpaid but I have a feeling this was history repeating itself in that we needed to stop others (Everton) strengthening in January - I’m sure Dyche and Everton were in for some sort of deal for him…we top trumped them.
He will prove useful next year I’m sure - and worst case we will recoup some on a desperate team come January.

At last a sensible opinion.

Perhaps you missed my post Paps? If not, can you tell me what our approximate budget will be for next year and what percentage of that we will be spending on Wood?

Rumours are he headbutted an NFFC member of staff in a pub...........thats the rumour...dont know true or not of course.

The rumour is Shelvey headbutted a member of the bar staff at a pub in Caythorpe and also
used homophobic slurs. This is rumoured to have happened a couple of weeks before the Liverpool game away and CCTV evidence been collected by the club. Doubtful he will ever play for the club again of true.
