Current Players Thread
I think scarpa has taken on a lot, moved country, totally different league, become a dad. It all adds up, hope he gets a full pre season and we don't get rid in summer.

They played in the same team at home to Leicester in what was one of if not our best performance of the season.

That was good, he did play in the AM role behind MGW and Brennan in that game though. So means pushing MGW wide and/or not picking one of Taiwo/Brennan/MGW. I'm not sure all four can play in the same team, can they?

Surely this also highlights the main issue since Jan that we've never even had the option to play all four players! We look so much better since Taiwo came back, it's just so frustrating as if even just he'd stayed fit I suspect we're probably much safer than we are now.

Likewise! If we end up in the Championship he could really dominate (hopefully not the case!)

It's obvious to anyone with a pair of eyes that he has something about him.

His work rate when he played was tremendous and some of his passing was superb. Lets remember that the movement in front of him and around him is not the best and probably not what he is used to.

Getting on his back for no reason.

Yep we're not criticising him, just calling out people claiming he's been victimised for not starting games whilst injured or otherwise. Jury is very much still out which is the case with anyone that has only played 180 mins.

I have to say I did not see this so called work rate personally though, his passing did look decent. As I said before unsurprisingly he looked off the pace, which given most players struggle when they come to the prem and he'd just played a full season was not surprising.

If he was fit would you prefer him to start over MGW?

I was at Southampton away and during his cameo he was by far the best player on the pitch in terms of both work rate and quality, his first time passing was sublime (I believe there were videos created to show this that were going around social media afterwards) but for that final period it was very much backs to the wall and he covered a lot of grass to ensure we held on

Yes I remember that too.

Give over some of you debasing the Brazilian league as second rate in comparison the the PL which players in most of the top performing teams are also NOT from these shores. The point is that Scapa has not been given the opportunities that MGW seems to have had and we all know that he is SC blue eyed boy as he made so much of getting us to sign him from Wolves, this then makes it difficult to drop him when not preforming to expected high standards which we know he is capable of at time. We Forest fans have not been given the opportunity to fully judge Scapa as SC just not seem to trust him for some reason or it it what I suspect not a SC choice of signing?

Several different points here.

1. Gibbs white has indeed performed poorly in some games which to be honest also coincided with some of our poorest performances vs West Ham Leeds and ManUtd. Would still say he has been better than most of his teammates even on these occasions and is the one player out there who can change a game. My opinion he hasn’t been poor enough to be dropped even if Scarpa was fit.

2. Which means can we play him with MGW? Maybe for example vs Villa we went with a front 3 of Johnson ahead of MGW and Danilo. So Scarpa for Danilo could work. But when the first choice trio of Awoniyi Johnson and MGW are fit I reckon its theirs to lose. A fit Scarpa would almost certainly come off the bench most games though.

3. A fit Scarpa in the front 3 or a fit Wood in the front 3?
Scarpa every time and twice on Sundays. Just saying.

4. The Premier League is the strongest league in the world as we have found out to our cost. So yes the Brazilian Campeonato is inferior. The Copa Libertadores is however hugely competitive particularly in its later stages and fair to look at any player who does well there.
However the Premier League is home to truly world class players. The Brazil national teams current No9 has only managed 1 goal in the PL this season. Its a tough transition for anyone.

4. Its Scarpa spelled with an r.

Sorry JL that last one was a low blow. My usual typo is writing stroker instead of striker. Taiwo is a great stroker sounds wrong on many levels!

Tantalisingly close now, probably just one more win required. If we do stay up its going to be hard to tame the expectations for next year, assuming we have a good summer...

We do have what appears to be a core of young, talented players to build around.

Danilo, Johnson, MGW, Mangala, Niakhate (jury is still out but hes good at throw ins), Awoniyi, Yates, plus is Neco. They all look like they are capable of playing at this level at have all shown a clear improvement over the season, a combination of players adapting to the new country/league and good coaching.

Add in a new keeper plus so cover for Brennan and Taiwo and a left back. (Lodi and Hendo hopefully) Spence too perhaps?

Then you've got a decent core of experienced veterans led by the beast that is Felipe (captain next year?!). Kouyate and Boly also look like decent assets.

Just got to get over the line first.
