Rumours of Gerrard to Olympiakos.
The Gerrard to Olympiakos rumours do seem to have cropped up at an interesting time… wonder if they’ve got their wires crossed? Hope not!
Don't think there is anything to see there ^^
One or two interesting names circulating.
Iberians and South Americans.
Names for Oly or names for us? I could see a change being made in the summer regardless of which division we are in.
Agreed. EM wanted to do more than survive and provided the funding to do so. It’s been misspent and cooper is to blame. If we stay up I imagine EM will want more. He will have seen the impact changing managers has had else were (villa, Bournemouth). Go down and it goes without saying.
We can’t blame EM for the mess we are in. With regards to cooper it’s a case of whether he has learnt lessons or not. The way we set up and played against Liverpool and Brighton suggests that we are more attacking and it suits us. The changes against Brentford were like those against villa. We played well at Brentford. We needed fresh legs in the game but unfortunately we are not blessed with depth at the moment (not quality depth).

The person who was to blame has already been sacked.
That we will change manager in the summer regardless of which division we are in I have a hunch you are correct.

If our jobs, regardless of what trade were in, if our bosses spent a load of money on tools/computers/food what ever you do, and you didn't meet his targets for the yeah, and all that money looked like it was about to be wasted on someone who couldn't do the job, we would be sacked. It's no different for coops. Wouldn't be surprised if a mutual termination statement was put out a week after the season ended. Hope coops can keep us up, and keeps a relegation off his CV before he goes

Of course you can blame EM, they're all responsible. Ridiculous to say he's exempt from blame.
So many errors in the market, way too many signings, whatever went on with Cooper contract in summer, letting his son sign players, inconsistent transfer strategy. You can't fault his investment and his continued backing of Cooper though.
Not sure why there is a desperation to apportion blame however I'd go.
1. Other teams having years to prepare and all spending this year.
2. Injuries
3. Having to gel 20 new players at once
4. No continuity from last year.
5. Signing young players/players without prem experience takes a while to adjust to the league.
6. Transfer strategy
7. Cooper and EM.
How hard is it for people to accept that we had a tough task this year? The odds were not in our favour. In my opinion we've had a pretty good season all things considered. We're somehow still in contention despite the injuries. We've Still got Cooper, I'd of taken this if offered it in August.
Think we have a good core of players that have started to settle and gel in this league and young players starting to step up. Well placed to hopefully be more competitive if we stay up next year.

I don't expect Steve to be in charge next season.

I was intrigued by the link to Marcelino that popped up before. His direct, high pressing football is well-suited to a team that doesn’t have a lot of the ball. I’d love to see the damage that Taiwo and Brennan could do under him.

Perhaps a debate for a few weeks time but if Cooper is sacked in the summer after keeping us up there will be a mutiny.
Whoever takes over will be under immediate pressure, they will not have anywhere close to the same support from the crowd and if ever they go on a bad run the crowd will chant for Cooper. EM will have nothing to hide behind if it doesn't work.
It would make us a laughing stock in the rest of the league too.
This is not opinion either, just fact of what will happen in the event that Cooper left after keeping us up.

If a new coach comes in and results are good then he will have the crowd onside.
Anyway who said anything about Cooper being sacked?
There are other ways to leave a football club like by mutual consent for example.

Exactly. Im sure if /when it happens it will be mutual consent.
Good to know the Crown will be onside. Didn’t realise Charles and Camilla were fans?

Why would Cooper get sacked or leave by mutual consent if he keeps us up. One season he gets us promoted from the bottom of the table and the next he keeps us up in a season which was always going to be extremely difficult. That’s two very successful seasons. Why would he or the club owners want to end such a successful employment. If that were to take place the support would be extremely confused why.

It’s a chance for Cooper to take control and leave on good terms, which is rare in football. It’s clear that Marinakis has considered changing a few times, only to be persuaded by fans. The summer represents a clean slate and the chance to start again. Maybe both parties would value that opportunity?
