They are an absolute basket case, they couldn't even sign any player's in January.

We are nowhere near in their state but their manager is getting a tune out of them and they are picking up more points than us.

Onana, Gueye, Mykolenko, Coleman (with Aurier out), Doucoure, Tarkowski, Iwobi, Gray.

If we had these guys they would be in our team right now (due to injuries)

Would Cooper even pick them ?  Or would they just be on the bench ? or not in the match day squad.

Cooper has shown he is very narrow minded.  He uses only certain players for the majority of minutes on the pitch.

I may moan....but I prefer to see a team fighting to attack and score and lose.............as opposed to the turgid dross of hoof it up the pitch and defend, hoof it up and defend, hoof it up an defend we are seeing from Coopers tactics currently.......... We do have players capable of passing and holding the ball..........

You say that but none of these players haven't proven that in the Premier league bar Shelvey and he's proven to be a liability too.

Agreed.

Steve has a lot to answer for with some of the signings he's asked for or that he has given a green light to.

It's weird as on paper and based on reviews from rival fans, Wood and Shelvey were good signings. I certainly felt Wood would allow us to get further up the pitch with his hold up play.

Felipe has done really well to be balanced too. Navas sounded good on paper too and started well. I'm pretty confident Danilo will come good too long term. We were all pretty disappointed we didn't sign another attacking wide player though.

Cooper and his staff does indeed need to take the bulk of the blame for our situation with team management and the tactics thats being used but then again the players need to take some of the blame as well because once they're on that pitch its up to them to put a shift in and not toss about like some of them do.

I really wanted Cooper to be able to stand the pressure and design a tactic which was right for us and get us at the very least putting in acceptable performance but unfortunetly that has proven not the case. Still funnier things have happened and we could still stay up by the skin of our teeth but we'll see.

Do we keep Danilo if we go down.

So do the people in charge that said OK to them.

Steve Cooper is not in charge of recruitment. Somewhere in this club, someone has to take responsibility for whatever our recruitment strategy has become.
Grant on Twitter has said that we need to have a recruitment strategy based on Intensity, Mobility, Athleticism and Speed. He goes on to say that it would allow us to press, cover ground and attack relentlessly.
He's right.

Are you seriously telling me that Steve Cooper does not have the final say on signings.

He even said so himself in the summer. Don't you remember him asking for more and more player's in his interviews because I do.

Who signed Wood, Shelvey and Ayew in January? There is only Cooper and Giraldi there, there is nobody else. So who do you think signed them?

And who the f**k is Grant? And what makes him right?

He wasn't asking for more players though, he was defending the amount of signings we made. Personally I saw that as excellent loyalty to Marinakis, how strongly Cooper defended what is hard to argue was slightly haphazard summer window.

On paper and based on reviews from Newcastle fans I thought Shelvey and Wood looked like good signings. Shelvey has been such a liability though, not sure I'd put that on Cooper aside from selecting him.

However, Wood I think you can put on Cooper. Not sure why he agreed to sign him and then tried to use him in a role that he was really not suited to. That's definitely on Cooper although can't blame him for him getting injured!

Course we do.
The idea behind the young players we bought, was that if we did go down, they were the ones that could come back with us.

No reason why Williams, Worrall, Niakhate, Mangala, Danilo, LOB, Awoniyi, MGW can’t form the basis to come back with.
