If Cooper does stay on, I've got hope MGW and Brennan might be willing to stick around, at least until the Jan window. They're on decent money now, even with a Championship downgrade clause taken into account. Six months out of their career for two young players isnt so much of a sacrifice. If they're both happy and settled, and can see the core of the squad staying put then they might fancy staying.

Exactly, why would we take a massive loss on MGW when we don't need too (unless he has a release clause).

I think with Brennan the temptation would be to sell because it's all profit as he's academy, whereas FFP wise MGW wouldn’t really save much anyway. Plus he'd be worth more and you can put that towards keeping the rest/some pacey wide forwards.

Its very difficult to work out the club’s financial health should we be relegated. However, what we know is that EM has invested around £200m in players and our wage bill is estimated to be around £80m this season.
Before Wassy jumps in yes I know most deals are amortised over 5 years and some will have wage reductions if relegated but its still a hell of an outlay.

The mythical Premier League £170m figure is the total earnings estimated over 3 years including parachute payments. I reckon we have already spent that. A relegated club this season will have around £45m to help them next season. Chris Wood’s salary of £4m is 10% of that figure by himself.

I will be amazed if we don’t have to sell.

You're right though it's difficult to know exactly how much we can afford. It's also unknown how much more EM is willing to facilitate.

Presuming he's willing to spend to the maximum of FFP again, the rules are fairly flexible. I'll see if I can work it out at some point but the prem FFP rules do apply for this season only.so it will be tight.

Dont get me wrong here Sal. I didn't mean we can get by without having to sell on players, I was just referring to Brennan and MGW.

Remember from that wage bill, the likes of Lingard and Henderson wont be on there next season, so that in itself is a reduction by £10M at a guess? Add to that the potential sale of i dunno, Frueler at say £6M, Lodi going back to Athletico Madrid and those wages start to come down. Ayew is only here to the end of the season, and we can hopefully offload Wood (although I can see that being more of a problem unless Burnley want him back!).

In all honesty, irrespective of which league we are in next season, we have to offload a load of players anyway as we have far too many that are just not up to the task. That and the excessive amount of injuries we have picked up so far this season have contributed to a very disappointing return to the PL and this has, to some extent, hamstringed (pardon the pun) Coopers plans and tactics.
