Still think he will leave when we're relegated. Love him to bits but he ain't turning this around
I don't think it's that.
There just isn't an alternative to take over at this moment in time. It's a great decision and marinakis deserves credit. Most would have flinched and perhaps gone for an experienced but uninspiring choice.
I hope cooper can use this to get a performance out of them on Saturday to reward marinakis' loyalty to him.

Did anyone see how many defenders Leeds brought on to defend their 1 goal lead ?
I hope Cooper took notice of that.........they should have scored 2 more simple goals with all those defenders on..........
Oh......wait a minute..........

Great decision
If we stay up he’s a genius
If we go down, either he or a new manager get the chance to do it properly
We’ll villa Man Utd and Liverpool

Yes that is kind of what I meant.
We are not interested in Rafa and never have been.
We have looked at a couple of Spaniards (not Rafa) but have been knocked back which I fully expected.

Absolutely.
If nothing else, it shows how much marinakis has backed cooper.
And I hope Cooper repays him.
Ultimately, i feel the club comes out of this looking better and I hope this shows a long term plan to back Cooper.
I said at the start of the season that regardless of outcome he should get this season. I feel he is the best man to get us promoted should we go down and ultimately only if that isn't going to happen or we get back and struggle again, should we reevaluate

Wow! with all the speculation I thought it was done and dusted for him.
Another huge play from EM. Hopefully it has the same effect as in the Autumn but I really do fear that we are now consigned to the Championship again next year. Fingers massively crossed!!!!

Can we just give EM a bit of credit here now and never again dismiss him as a hire and fire merchant. The money that guy's invested in our club is phenomenal and he was perfectly within his rights to sack Cooper today. This may be a pragmatic approach by him, I don't know, but its a huge decison to take to stay loyal to a guy who's served you well.

That's twice now this season. Hopefully this will bring an upturn in results like it did the first time. If it does it might be enough to keep us up and turn into an absolute masterstroke.

Over to Steve now. Most returning players should be near full fitness and it's up to Cooper to change things up and fight.
He's got the support of the fans and the owner, got most of the players available for selection, the performances have to start right away.

I always felt part of that was that people were using that to hide behind the fact they wanted a change but didn't want to say it so strongly. So would just say "oh he always fires managers, this guy has no chance". Whilst I think it should be an easy decision to stick I realise I am in the minority across the football world in that (despite the stats backing it up). So he's gone against the grain, fair play to that.

The ball is in your court now Stevie boy. Villa on Saturday and its your job to get the team to perform as they did at home to Wolves (which should have earned us a win). How the same team gave such a meek surrender last night is your problem to solve.

Glad he’s staying but seriously does anyone expect any difference at Villa ?
