Nottingham Forest - Wolves

Injuries are only part of the problem they are not an excuse.

I seem to remember Boly being called shit when he signed and Mckenna's level is the Championship etc.

We win together we lose together, we got promoted together and we will go down together (if it comes to that).

Steve rightly got lauded when he took us up and he will no doubt get some stick if he takes us down.

I remember lots of comments like we only got promoted because of Steve Cooper as if nobody else played a roll in it.

So are we only going to get relegated because of Steve Cooper too?

Or is it all because of Cooper when something great happens and it's all somebody else's fault when something shit happens.

I'm sorry but that is not at all accurate for the most part. The majority (/all?) acknowledged that Cooper was a big part of the reason we went up however so were Brennan, Spence, Davis, the other loan players, Cook etc. Not to mention the step up made by the players previously struggling under Hughton.

There's so many factors that go into performance to try and boil it down to one person makes no sense.

If Brennan and Spence got injured last year we would not have gone up. Injuries are a major factor and often determine how teams do relative to their expected results, any team that loses key players will do worse than before. That's a combination of luck, good replacements and good health management.

Why do you constantly want to try and turn people against Cooper?

If I ask anyone neutral they will tell you that Cooper is performing above expectation this year with our league position. That is not to say he has played a perfect game and made no mistakes, simply that the good decisions he's made have overall outweighed the bad. I would put his performance this year at an 8.5 personally/

You seem to have a bit of a chip on your shoulder about this point?

There has been plenty of criticism of Cooper on here, much of it justified.

As regard injuries particularly in warm up, then Cooper is head coach and it is his responsibility to ensure his assistants get the squad to warm up properly.

Cooper isn't going to micro manage the physios! This is nothing to do with Cooper.

Criticise him for the use of Wood, or the early season tactics or certain selections but the injuries from the warm up is 100% not on him.

Don't get me wrong I like Steve Cooper and he's been great for us.

I don't have a chip on my shoulder.

I just get a bit frustrated sometimes, it seems like that when we win a game Steve is a football genius and the best thing since sliced bread and when we lose a game it's f**k off EM back to Greece you fat c**t and take Charnley and Giraldi with you etc etc. Not too much of it on here but it appears on social media etc. Some even think Steve Cooper is bigger than the football club.

I just don't think that that is right and it doesn't sit very well with me.

Anyway praying for the 3 points tomorrow as I am desperate for us to stay in the PL. Despite our current position I have loved every minute of it.

Disagree on that one mate, its called leadership. I dont think making sure the first team is warmed up properly is micro managing either.

I get what you are saying, I think its a natural reaction to look at Cooper as the Messiah after 23 years of failure.

However there has been plenty praise for EM too “he signs who he wants!” Etc. Really need to stay off Twitter after a defeat though, not just the owner who gets it, remember the abuse at Worrall a couple of weeks ago.

Giraldi I agree should have been credited for our upturn in performance October onwards and should also be questioned now as to some of the decisions made.

As for Charnley, hmmm, I dont know much about him but we do seemed to have done a lot of business with Newcastle which to date has only benefited one club.

Right but players and coaches are autonomous beings, they have to be trusted to assume they've stretched correctly. To suggest it would be on Cooper would suggest that because of his leadership skills those players chose not to stretch properly, I just find that bizarre. Throwing out buzzwords like leadership that have little meaning in this context are unhelpful in my opinion. It you can actually justify what Cooper could have tangibly done to improve the warm up in this instance (given at that point in time he would have no idea the warm up was an issue). I think since that incident it would be fair to expect him to take a more direct approach in terms of monitoring but not before that.

Charnley got nothing to do with transfers despite what some want to make out on Twitter etc.

For a starter I don't read social media for the above reasons, I use this forum as a gauge so maybe that's scewing my opinions as naturally this forum is pro Greece for obvious reasons.

I understand your perspective though, in fact mine is the same just sub in EM for Cooper. You're trying to over-compensate for the loud minority that criticise the Greeks and I'm doing the same for Cooper.

As it happens this year I think both have performed well and largely got the key decisions right. Cooper has made a few mistakes particularly early on (although shouldn't be forgotten that the Bournemouth loss was due to an inexplicable error by McKenna). Greeks made a few mistakes too such as signing Dennis despite Cooper clearly not wanting him. Otherwise though I think they made the right choice to back him, the recruitment has generally been good. We were always going to get a few misses but a lot of the players have resale value and will improve. The veterans have largely been good and key contributors. Overall, so far it's a job well done for me, from a near impossible situation where all the other rivals are spending wildly and already had better teams.

Fingers crossed we sneak over the line as we're very well placed for the future.

I had a little chuckle to myself a couple of weeks ago.

My old mate DT had a little pop on Twitter about EM when the season ticket price increase was announced and he also mentioned the stadium delay with a bit of irony.

A couple of weeks earlier EM wrote off 41M of debts by converting them to equity and he never mentioned a bloody word!

There are a number of legitimate complaints towards the ownership but I don't think you can complain about the financial contributions they've made!
