Freuler does run a lot as does Shelvey, just neither of them do it very quickly. Glad Kouyate is back but he is slower still.
There in lies the problem, Newcastle have Saint Maximin, Isak, Willock and Almiron who are all lightning fast. We have 2 slow centre backs and a slow central midfield. Been saying for a long time we have little pace in our squad apart from Johnson. Lets see how they cope.
Everyone is aware of the pace issues but given everyone else is injured (at CB) we haven't got a lot of choice.
I know that and it’s certainly not the game to start Niakhate although the collective genius of twitter will still be outraged when Worrall starts on Friday.
More the lack of pace in midfield Im getting at. We aren’t exactly blessed with it in the forward department either.
Are you suggesting we should've invested in faster players then? Taiwo and Dennis have pace in attack, not starting for very different reasons!
I am for one and have been for a couple of years.
We need more than just Johnson to stretch teams.
The big boys have quick players who can also control the ball.
The bottom teams have big well-drilled players to combat that pace.
ATM we fall between the two but I’m sure the recruitment team are working on upgrading the squad in terms of physicality, pace and energy- 3 of the 4 requisites for success.
I just hope we stay up to give us the time to continue the project.
In the meantime we are going to have to rely more on the 4th aspect for success- luck. We’re certainly overdue some.

Where you starting Johnno then sniff ?
Well I wouldn't start Dennis over Johnno but if Johnno gets subbed off or he gets injured etc.
Panic on the streets of Croydon, Derby, Sheffield, Leicestershire.

That's why he hasn't played then!
Fwiw, I'd be tempted to either play Dennis in the role Taiwo played or in a 4231 alongside Jonno if we want to be slightly more expansive.

Tbf we've been unlucky that a couple of our players that fall into that ballpark have been injured (Awoniyi/Yates).

On an unrelated note I noticed a few comments on an article about relegation battle on Athletic from Palace fans saying how much they missed Kouyate. I think we can agree with that one too (although I wouldn't have said that at the start)

Both have energy and physicality, but neither have real ‘pace’ which has been my hobby horse whinge for ages now. But you’re right- and proving my point somewhat being the gap left from having (only) two players out.
However you could probably add Niakhate and kouyate in that too but we’re miles off topic now!
What a massive difference 3 points would make tomorrow.

I really hope Danilo starts tomorrow, from the brief flashes we have seen there is true quality in there. I just can’t bare to watch Remo float around doing the square route of bugger all again. I know people have argued his best work, due to its nature, goes largely unnoticed - I’m just not convinced at all.
The absolute minimum that we must demand is a real uptake in energy, aggression and dare I say it will to attack! The last couple of games have been nothing short of infuriating.

Danilo, Yates and Shelvey would be my starting 3.
We need to fight fire with fire. Newcastle are very high energy in midfield and if we don’t match them and even out-work them, then we will lose.
Shelvey and Freuler won’t be mobile enough to worry Newcastle

Is that from the team which has allegedly been leaked (again)? Haven't seen it myself but have been told it's been done again.

Seen a few tweets (no idea how true) saying that Almiron is out injured for them tonight. That would certainly be a boost for us.
