Agreed SM. Some of the things that I read read on social media regarding Joe are an absolute disgrace from so called Forest fans.

Joe has his limitations and i think he knows this and yesterday some of his defensive work was Lg1 standard but against Man City he was Colossal , people have very short memories .
The abuse he is getting is not called for our fanbase like many others is toxic and social media lets them have a platform .

Thinking about Zico’s post last night.

Joe made some mistakes yesterday and has undoubtedly struggled at times this season against quality opponents as has every one of his teammates. He has been nowhere near our worst performer and has at times been very good and indeed yesterday scored his first premier league goal.

So when I read some of the comments on social media aimed directly at our club captain and a lad who has supported the club since a young boy it absolutely boils my piss.

All true. Im sure the lad cares passionately about the club. He's looked fine with Boly alongside him but going through a phase where he is struggling at present. The abuse should stop.

I keep my view that if we are in the PL next season and all goes to plan on the recruitment front then joe will be moved on, along with cook and possibly McKenna.
None are bad players as such, but their lack of pace is an issue and I think cooper wants 3 quick CB’s in the squad so he can play 3 at the back if needed.

When he was playing for a lower mid table Championship team under Chris Hughton, he was offered the chance to quadruple his salary and play in the Premier League. Yes he would have been happy to move on then as would you have done in his position.

We also need to invest heavily on a quality CB this summer supposing we stay up. We really do need to be able to play 10-15 yards higher up the pitch. In reality we are still championship level in that area of the pitch.

Whether Joe will be prepared to be 4th / 5th choice is the question.

If boly and McKenna were fit now it’s fair to say he’s probably 4th choice already before we add new players- which would push him further down the list.

I think mbe soh panzo and Biancone will all be assessed in the summer as part of the strategic plan so we might see a bigger overhaul at CB generally. All with the caveat if we stay up…

Indeed and that was my point.

It helps that players might be fans but ultimately their career comes first. 
The main drivers will always be what league we are in, what progress the club are making, the salary on offer and that player’s role in the squad. 

If we stay up I believe we tick most boxes except for Joe on current form his role may not be as a first choice player. As such I believe there is a strong chance he may well be a Forest fan plying his trade elsewhere next season. Unlike Arter, he will still have suitors.

Ironically if we go down Worrall will be primed to lead our inevitable back three next year and will probably be one of the top defenders in that league again.

I personally thought he'd make the step up well but it seems to pace of the league has shown its teeth at CB. It's not like there aren't slower defenders in this league, it seems perhaps Joe's ability on the ball was useful in a back three. Actually a very similar progression to Harry Maguire (at a lower level), perhaps it's a wider league issue for defenders with similar skill sets.

Soh, Panzo and Biancone will all be surplus if we remain a Prem club.
All 3 are over 21 so would need registering.
We simply need better, if we are to move forwards.
