I also think Cooper will think he owes a debt if gratitude to the fans for keeping him in a job a few months ago. On that basis he's not going to walk out the minute he receives a slightly tempting offer from a 'bigger' club.

We never know what goes on at board level, always got to look at the bigger picture with them, we all love cooper and think he's doing a awesome job.. and want him to stay.

But when you look at the board business side they might think, he's doing a good job, but with the tools we have provided could he be doing better? Should he of done better before the injuries to give us a safer standing point than what we are at now? Will the away form take us down? Why are we not trying something different away? Why have we changed how attacking we were in the champ, etc etc etc..

I'm a cooper fan and want him to do well.. but I don't own the club and thrive on success, evangelos wants us to stay in this league.. and if we do stay up.. even by 1 point.. then how long does cooper actually get next season of were the same..

I just try to look from both sides.. so if cooper does go. Which I don't want.. then I'm prepared for it ha

There is absolutely no way Cooper is underachieving !
We are punching above our weight.
We have an entirely new squad that he has had to perform miracles to get to this point.
This is not football manager, this is 30 players who largely have met each other for the first time, playing in the toughest league in the world. Also like it or not, the bulk recruitment drive, which of course was completely necessary, has meant some of the players have struggled to hit the levels.

Coops is an elite coach, make no doubt about that.
However he does love it here and I think it would take something pretty special to pull him away from us.

Yes above 20th would be an overachievement, particularly with the bad luck with injuries. We came into the league with only a couple of players capable of playing successfully at this level. We may have spent a lot but so have pretty much every other team and the ones that haven't have already had years of spending and squad building. 

To add to this, it's starting to feel like the ball is dropping a bit on mid season managerial sackings. Aside from Villa, who got a big name coach, all are either more or less the same or worse. Leeds couldn't get anyone and had to panic sign someone, Southampton and Bournemouth both went for caretakers (although better than Parker). West Ham are sticking because there's no-one out there. Leicester stuck with Rodgers and they improved. We improved after initially struggling when we stuck with Cooper. Not only is the grass rarely greener but the rare times it was, it quickly sours again the following year.

Like all players and manager's past and present, they all eventually move on and leave the club. NFFC is actually the fans and football nothing more or less, all the other elements and personel are a side show. SC will leave at some point either for a better position or sacked it's a act of life so just look forward to Sundays match and a good game with the correct result in our favour which is all that really matters to me as a fan.

2022/3 - stays up under unique circumstances, touted as manager of the year
2023/4 - starts to see ‘his’ team forming around a nucleus of young players and comfortable mid table team
2024/5 - continued improvement similar to Brighton this season. Forest are a stable PL club with a shiny new ground.
2025/6 - depending on many factors, this might be the right time for him to move on- proven PL manager with the required experience.

So I reckon barring mishaps and if we still want him, he’s going to be here until summer 2025 at least.

Absolutely spot on. Our target in truth is still to finish 17th. Anything above this-lets say 13th- would be a massive bonus, bordering on another SC miracle. We have some decent players, but when you look at say West Hams midfield and wide players, Evertons back 5 or some of Wolves line up, the quality is staggering at every club-on paper.

It looks like a story put out there by a rival designed to try and unsettle the team before a big game and potentially the closest run in in the battle to stay in the premier league.

I don't think it's that. I think it's a case of some PL jobs will become available for a fact in a few weeks time and good young up and coming coaches like Steve Cooper will get linked to those jobs. I think it could be an interesting summer personally.

Spurs is the only one I can think of that would be enough of a step up that it could worry me. They're generally fairly stable with managers too. Might depend on whether they make top 4.

I just dont think that these top clubs are prepared to consider people like Cooper. He'd need to go to a top side in another country first.
