Away Form

Was just looking at our away results so far. I think the one goal stat whilst not amazing, is slightly misleading as we've actually had pretty tricky away games so far.

Newcastle - lost 2-0
Everton - 1-1 last min goal conceded
Man City - Lost badly
Leicester - Lost badly
Wolves - Lost 1-0, late missed penalty
Brighton - excellent 0-0
Arsenal- Lost badly
Man Utd - Lost

So we've mainly played top half sides away so far. The only standout bad result is the Leicester one. The main point is as we get easier games our record away will obviously improve.

This does also suggest we got a tougher run at home to come, not sure if that's a bad thing or not as we are very competitive at home.

Well it simply must improve if we are to stay in this league.

The good thing is that it can't get any worse so it can only improve.

I won't hold back here, so far our away form has been appalling.

Good shout. I hadn't fully realised that run of away games we've had. In some ways we should do well away from home as teams are more inclined to come at us, leaving space behind for us to attack. That said, as can be seen, a lot of teams have come at us and unfortunately succeeded!!

Those Everton and wolves results really irritating still!

We still have to go to Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham to name just 3.

It won't be any easier in the second half of the season.

We need to improve our away performances not pretend that we have easier fixtures.

Yeah and I'm sure we'll lose those games however we have matches against Bournemouth, Southampton, Leeds, West Ham, Villa, Palace, Fulham which are very winnable.

We have played 8 away games so far, 4 against the top 4 so you would expect nothing from those. The Leicester one was bad and the other three were two draws and a narrow loss after a missed penalty. We clearly have easier fixtures left than we've played away so far, the results will improve, hopefully enough to keep us up.

Palace, Villa and Fulham are all top half of the home league table plus Brentford are 7th in the home table. These games are far from easy then we have to factor in Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham.

It's simple, we need to improve away from home. The good news is that I think we can improve but I am certainly not relying on so called easier games.

Last night was a bit of a war of wills to get 3 points and we came through. It wasn't easy on the eye but the W was all that mattered. I hope now that away performances will improve as the confidence levels soar.

Oi Pap. Anyone who refers to it as “W” goes on my blocked list!  :disagree:
