From #nffc training camp in Athens: Forest “extremely frustrated” with Senegal FA over treatment of Cheikhou Kouyaté, who is set to miss at least 2 months with a torn hamstring sustained at the World Cup. Club deeply unhappy with Senegal’s diagnosis & player care

Did they allow him to train despite the injury? If not then it won't have impacted it much surely? Frustrating nevertheless though, he was key before the break particularly vs Liverpool.  Pressure on Mangala to fulfill his early promise now.

I doubt that. I bet the player wanted to hang around the squad and not leave for treatment. 2 months out and then gain fitness again. We wont see him until the last few games I reckon.

If its two months from the injury start that would take us to Feb. Probably optimistic though

Need Mangala and O'Brien to step up now.

Sports Sciencey bit: With a muscle tear, correct and early diagnosis is critical to treatment and therefore length of absence.  Total rest can cause a bigger problem and slower recovery for instance (remember the days where a Dr would say "rest it for a while...")
Similarly, over aggressive rehab (in an attempt to rush back) can set you back too.

I can only guess that Senegal medical team were trying to get him back in time for later games as it seems inconceivable (and patronising to think it) that an international squad at The World Cup would have less than competent physios and medical staff.

Also, too much travelling and walking can aggravate a Hammy. If He wanted to stay and support  this could have happened?

Forest understandably annoyed that he is out and clearly something may have occurred that is not ideal, but may not be as bad as being claimed.

Next man up....

Though they also said that about Mangala before he was out for about a month.

Yes that is why I am concerned SR and Aurier looked in pain to me. I am aware what Coops said but I don't have to believe it.

Coops record of diagnosing our injuries is not the best!
