Still surprised he is Coopers first choice but you dont break up a defence that is finally getting it right, excellent display and the way he controlled the ball before crossing for the goal was unreal.

I’m not sure he’s cooper’s first choice per se but Under cooper players keep the shirt until someone else earns it- ask worral.

However let’s not get ahead of ourselves here; the way we play narrow we effectively have 4 centre halves with kouyate and Yates; aurier and Williams main roles are to stop wingers getting to the byline and we are challenging teams to launch it into the box from 30 yards out- and our 4 big lads are difficult to beat and that’s working well.

That sounds like very backhanded compliment or sweet tasting humble pie?

However we still can’t defend set pieces properly which is worrying and there’s still much to be done on that. But Rome wasn’t built in a day and who knows how far team spirit can take us.

The Set piece issue was worse when we had 3 CBs on the pitch near end strangely. Too many Cooks....or not enough Cooks...

TBF we can analyse the sh1t out of the game in isolation and whinge about imperfections as many like to do. But, this result was built on the decision after Leicester debacle yo be less gung ho and be hard to beat 1st.

Have to admit Cook played well yesterday and deserves to keep his place against Arsenal.

Awoniyi was dropped to accommodate Johnson to play.

Finally Cooper dropped Johnson and we get Awoniyi back and then a strong midfield and we win.

The same starting 11 against Arsenal please....and do the same again.

Players should be told the shirt is theirs to lose now...same performance level next game else.....your out and someone else gets a chance.

Probably not a popular opinion, but might go full Park coach as at Brighton. Whoever Coops trusts to run hardest and carry out his plan works for me. It will be a 13-16 man effort for us to get anything again.

I think it’s our only feasible game plan, but still expect arsenal to pinch it as they will play through us a bit more. 

Hoping on hope we can nick a point and set us up to go for two home wins after that.

For a team that can't defend set pieces, we just managed it against teams who were 6 and 7th and kept a clean sheet in the process, both games.

Not bad for a team who can't defend.

We rode our luck against Liverpool and whilst I loved every single minute, I’m not too blinkered to ignore the fact that van dyke could or should have had a hat trick yesterday.
It’s still massive progress from where we were but I’m sure cooper will have identified it as a remaining weakness and will be working on it.

I think it’s naïve to think Jonno improves us as a team, in fact Saturday’s performance should reiterate this?

Bring him in with 20/30 minutes to go, he looked sharp and was unlucky not to score.

A confident in form Jonno definitely improves us- when he gets back on top his game.

No..........Jonno is a luxury player for when your squad matches their squad..........

We are not at that stage, we are much stronger without him, as was proved against Liverpool when Cooper finally dropped him.

For me he stays out of the starting 11 now and is an impact sub until we are mid table and cruising.

Lingard is regaining form and fitness.

He is a proven England international and every game his understanding with the other players is improving.

Jonno needs to be benched while Lingard and MGW and Awoniyi get lots more game time together to grow their understanding of each other.

I'm not sure i could bring myself to say it in such a harsh way about Brennan that folk have been saying on here, I think he's earned more respect than that and I still believe he is our best finisher.

However, I think we do have more balance with awoniyi up front (stuck record) and if coops thinks MGW and Lingard are the 2 to play off him then that's his call. I feel like brennan could step into their roles too and I'm sure we'll see it occasionally.

I know it's only garth crooks but it's nice to see a couple of our players in his team of the week! Hendo and awoniyi! Good stuff.
