That's a fair point. Just because he might have driven the negotiations in order to sign some players doesn't mean he actually chose the ones that were signed.

That could be the big shift.

And might play into the narrative that we should have gone quality and familiarity over quantity??

Would put coops in a more comfortable position ???

I might go with that. Someone needs to be held accountable for the £100m spent on Awoniyi, Freuler, Kouate, Williams, Lingard etc and the assumption that the club would progress by letting go of two thirds of last season's team.

He is the go to contact for Mendes and Jonathan Barrett. You are telling me he isnt swayed when they whisper in his ear they have a sexy signing for us? He definitely has an influence.
Not all bad of course and it was Mendes that swung the MGW deal for better or worse but he was Coopers No1 choice so Milto got him fair play. Clearly involved with Lodi too.

What I am doing getting at is a lack of cohesive thinking, too many people with different ideas and agendas and you end up with a hotch potch of players. One person should have taken leadership of the whole process , that really should have been Murphy, if he was to weak to do that then thanks and bye.

Yep. The Toffolo signing may illustrate a lack of joined-up thinking. There was something not right about the negotiations and the time he took to sign. Did the recruitment team want him but Cooper not? Or did Cooper rate him but the recruitment team want to go for Richards? Same with Dennis. His lack of game time suggests Cooper had no part to play in his signing.

In the same way 8 games is too early to write off Cooper. The same surely has to be said for the majority of players signed. Players will take time to settle into a new team/City/Country/system etc.

Although as SM said above, if as it looks, we've had 2-3 different groups of people all getting signings through that has left us with players the manager wasn't overly interested in that doesn't exactly sound like good business.

How does that happen though? Surely they're being signed off by someone?

Lets be honest, big slab of hindsight here - the signings of the best cm and lb in championship from Huddersfield were sound business, Omar Richards looks a signing and Neco was flying last season in the international team as well as getting game time for 2nd best club in England.

Niakhate signing seems sound as does Mangala. Lingard was lauded as a coup. Awoniyi is a hero in Germany and rated by Klopp (but i think we overpaid)

Theres a few signed in my view to provide a squad for a busy season - likes of Kouyate to my mind fills the squad yet Cooper is playing him CM when Palace didnt think him up to it hence playing him CB.

The team isnt playing well, but i still think the recruitment was sound enough.

Indeed the biggest Q i have was MGW, which was clearly Cooper signing.

Lingard.

Good guess but wrong answer mate.

There are no Milto signings only Milto negotiations after signings were identified by Syrianos and the recruitment team/scouts.

I think he would be a good appointment Widdow.

He was at Watford for a long time I think about 7 years of which 5 or 6 were in the PL. In other words Watford stayed in the PL all that time under his guidance and then went down after he left.
