Players & manager are good enough. The issues are 100% unfamiliarity, a lack of trust and confidence forged by time together.
Criminal if they self-destruct. Chose this route, have the balls to see it through.

If the club thought #nffc would have clicked by now after this amount of change, it's poor judgement.
Changing things after entirely forseable adversity would make it look like they don't know what they're doing.
Am I missing something here? The team was absolutely dire on Monday. They were not just a bit unlucky or a bit disorganised, they were completely terrible. Utter garbage, one of the worst defeats we've seen in about 18 months or so. Until they played us the team that comfortably beat us had amassed just 1 point from their 7 games. Ok, you can say bad performances will happen but this followed the two other worst performances of the season, home defeats against former championship clubs with 3 goals conceded each time in those games. In those 3 games we've become progressively worse. Before that, 2 defeats against top clubs, OK that happens but both of those sides beat us easily. Before that, a semi-reasonable performance and draw at Everton, a lucky win (yes lucky, lets be honest about it) against West Ham and before that, another completely dire performance at Newcastle where we struggled to even get out of our half. We've been lucky to amass 4 points from these 8 games.
So lets be clear. The club will not be self destructing if they feel they need to sack the manager. They'll be in survival mode. Something's got to change on the pitch and quickly if we're going to retrieve anything from this season. The player's aren't just a bit out of form, they look lost. They don't know what the hell they're meant to be doing any more and the coach doesn't even know yet who he fancies in all 3 thirds of the pitch. The defence is exposed by the midfield, the 'strikers' cant score for toffee and the midfield is like the keystone cops. It's a total farce what's happening on the pitch. Can no-one else see this?
I'm now resigned to a relegation regardless of who the manager is but if we go down with an embarassing points total and we're say 20 points short it's going to set us back years. There'll be no coming back up instantly if that happens. The fallout from a pathetic season like that will be big and the smell will hang around for years. if we get a new manager in and still go down with a fight, then maybe we come back but at the moment we look like the worst side in division by a country mile and look like we're being coached by me and my mates.

Its pretty irrelevant offering a long term contract when we dont have a club willing to honour a long term contract for any head coach.
I believe the famous quote when one former manager asked his predecessor for advice was “Rent, dont buy”.

Can't argue with any of that Pap. Cooper rightly deserves massive praise for last season but he's not above criticism. The way some are going on about him on Twitter you'd think he was the second coming of Clough.
We're meant to be improving and gelling but performances are getting worse and that's after the transfer window closed so the excuse of the players all being new doesn't really wash.

I dont get that logic at all? Why not?
Loads of clubs have done it, indeed its almost the expected way, Ist season in PL failure, drop down, retain strong team with parachute money, straight back ip with a bit more strength and nous.
Who better to do that than Cooper? I will tell you now if we get Rafa and stiil go down he will be out the door same day.

A few notes to that firstly Leicester have played Spurs, Brighton, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal so have had a rough start fixtures wise. They are not as bad as that points total and have show that at times even in the harder games.
Secondly, we're currently 2 points from safety with 30 games left. There is ages left, plenty of time to figure things out. The season is certainly not over already.
As boffin says what did anyone expect, that we'd just make 22 new signings and immediately know the best ways to use them, how all of them would settle etc. The influx of signings was necessary (to a degree), as are the growing pains until the squad settles down and we start to see who establishes themselves.
I'm confident if Cooper was given time he would be able to build some conisistency and then we'd see some improved performances

Yeah we'd be huge favourites to win the league next year in that scenario. We'd have a top side for that level with whatever is left plus the players out on loan too. Plus parachute payments so if we needed to plug some gaps then we'd be able to sweep up the cream of the championship/league one.

Everyone needs to wake up a little here. I love Cooper and obviously loved his work last season but I like the club better and unfortunately it's going down the pan. It's often said you know where you are as a side after 10 games into a season. Well, we've had eight and I don't need another two to enlighten me further. There's been absolutely no progress since the first game. We look worse, not better. In my eyes we're so poor now we're not just talking about lack of success this season, we're talking about the effect on next season and probably the season after. And let's be honest, after relegation there's going to be a mass exodus from the club. Off the top of my head Henderson, Lingard, Cook, Williams, Lodi, Niakhate, Mangala,, Kouate, Freuler, Johnson, Dennis will all be off. Most of them don't have any particular attachment to the club and they will see the basket case we've become and want out at the first opportunity. So if Cooper needs time this season to sort the team out, are we going to give him the same time next season too? I feel for the bloke but he's just not managed to cut it in the top division with the hand he's been given to play. It's probably not his fault entirely but that's the deal in football unfortunately.

Paplane i agree . I know people will say with all the signings made in the summer they need time too bed in and this may be true But I was at least wanting to see a gradual improvement in performance’s. The fact is the last three matches has got gradually worse

I can't speak for others but I was optimistic at the start of the season that we would have enough about us to stay up.
With the high number of players signed that it would take time to get going but before that actually happened envisioned tough games and gritty/battling type performances getting the odd draw or win inbetween a few loses.
What I didn't expect in all honesty was to concede 3+ goals most weeks and generally look like a pub team.
The start to the season was really good from a points return perspective however the performance of the team has got worse each game.
I am more than happy to give cooper more time but we have to start seeing some sort of improvement asap

Steve Cooper set to stay as #nffc head coach, following boardroom talks on Wednesday. Cooper expected to take charge for the Villa game on Monday night. Forest also to appoint Filippo Giraldi (ex-Watford) as new sporting director
