How much time do you give to a coach who won't sign a contract though?

Lets not forget that because it's important. How much time do you give someone who won't commit long time to the cause?

Steve is not really helping himself here in my view.

What ever has gone off behind the scenes with Coopers contract is effecting the club now, I got no confidence from his pre-match conference that he was up for the fight or wanted to be here. Pains me also but something needs to change and that is either the situation that is causing conflict or Mr Cooper.

The club would be barmy to allow Cooper to extend now. In convinced theres no contract offer to accept any more, hence Cooper's numerous recent expressions of commitment to the club. I think he thinks he's out of his depth. He's begining to sound like he's beaten. I remember when Frank Clarke was acting in a simialr way when his team stuggled in the prem. He ran out of ideas too. Letting Cooper go might actually be better for both sides. It'll be a sad say when he does leave. I'll not be celebrating.


Pap, there was always a chance this was going to happen. Cooper is clearly a fantastic coach who can develop the youger players and progress them on. He would be / will be an outstanding international coach (hopefully with England again).

Sadly it is time for a change. Last night was a car crash, rabbits in headlights. It was horrible to see him on the sidelines. For the greater good of the club, a change is needed. We are 2 points from safety, if we wait till November it could 10-12 ...no brainer if you remove the emotion.

Dyche would organise us, sort the defence and hopefully progress us. He will not take crap from any of the players. Not going to be pretty to watch though.

I am sad and will not rejoice in Steve Cooper leaving the club.

However I think we need a change to at least try and save our season and our place in the PL. I see no way back for Steve now after yesterday which lets be honest was an absolute shocker of a performance. Sadly I see no improvement at all even after breaks for the queens death and for international matches.

I don't think we should point the finger at any individual, mistakes have been made collectively.

Steve will go down in Forest history as the man who got us back in the PL after 23 years and for that he will always be very fondly remembered and every time he returns to the CG he will rightly get a standing ovation and the fans will chant his name.

To expand a bit I know for a fact that Pedro Martins has a big ambition to manage in the PL and he had it written into his contract at Olympiakos that if a PL team came knocking then he could leave.

Rafa Benitez and Laurent Blanc were both linked with Olympiakos very recently and I beleive that both actually spoke and had contact with the big man.

Postecoglou was in Athens in the summer and even met with some of our player's.

Like I said don't shoot the messenger but that is all I can share right now.

Well if that is the list then for me we might as well stick with what we have. Dyce might keep us in the league but i will be horrible to watch and i don't think we have the players for that kind of football.

Don't think that's true. The Twitter account which tweeted it is fake. Claims to work for the FT and Reuters but if you Google his name you only get his Twitter account.

Of course there are others who are not on the list who will crop up. It is not set in stone that our next manager will come from that list.

I'd like to know from the cooper in crowd the rationale behind your thinking. The contract situation is bizarre and last season he came in and made a bunch of strangers (not as many I get that) competitive from the offset. I get it's a harder league now but nothing is improving.

You are looking at someone like Benitez or Dyche trying to get things moving but its not that simple. They would still inherit a team of strangers and a squad that in my opinion would struggle regardless of who was manager. I do accept that Cooper doesnt seem to know his best team, tactics are poor, commitment for some is questionable too.

Just dont see anyone doing better although I realise you will throw back at me that this time last year we said nobody could do better than Hughton. I would take the hit, let Cooper build the regular starting 11 he wants to play with no outside interference, bin off the players he doesnt want in January, some very expensive hits there.
Then hopefully we are at least left with a team who would put up some fight for the remainder of the season, may still go down but would be in good shape to bounce back. Right now we have a disjointed group who would struggle in the Championship.

The alternative appoint the fat Spanish waiter who is in it for the short term, the same thinking that thought Lingard was a good idea. Spunk another load of our owners millions in January on more players who dont care, probably still get relegated but with a huge expensive bomb squad that has Sunderland written all over it.

What evidence is there of 'outside interference' in team selections? I acknowledge that he might not have chosen all of the players we signed, but you're suggesting something different entirely here and I'd love to see some proof of it.
