The Atalanta coach in Serie A gets a tune out of him and thinks he's brilliant as does the Switzerland coach against top class opposition.

Not that he's getting picked on anymore than anyone else. Just that it's a good example of what happens if you bring someone in from the cold. Hence why would making wholesale changes be expected to have different results.

Tbh, I'd probably still start Freuler, his CV is just too good.

Yep I agree, I think we need to persist with him.
For me it’s 3 from 4 out of Kouyate, Freuler, O’Brien and Mangala

I watched Biancone in the Burton Albion friendly and he was by far the best player on the pitch
He was strong, hard tackling, fast, good on the ball and good in the air definetly a good player in there better than worrall what I saw
Come on you mighty Reds

It's a shame we can't play Burton every week then...

Not sure why Biancone and Freuler seem to get stick. None of them have had a fair crack of the whip yet.

Not seen Biancone get any stick ,he hasnt had a chance of any description.

I give Freuler stick simply on the strength of a pretty appalling 70 mins vs Fulham, it was night and day when OBrien came on for him. Not judging him on the 15 mins vs Tottenham or indeed the 90 mins vs Man City when they made every one of our players look like a pub team.
Basically I have yet to see the bloke make any sort of meaningful contribution in his brief chances to date, however I accept he has by some distance the best CV of any of our midfielders and is playing well for his country. Im not writing him off by any means but do wonder if he is one of those players just not suited to the english game fo some reason.

It does generally take your average player new to English game time to adapt to the speed of the Premier League, plus the challenges of adapting to living and working in a new country. Happy to be patient with him, can see based on Fulham why Cooper has slow played his entry to the team. I think we were all a bit gutted to see how badly he played with such a great CV. Hopefully, he can develop into the team however Cooper does this.

I couldn't even tell you what Biancone looks like, however my only comment on him would be that if Cooper doesn't rate him over the over 6 or 7 CBs, this suggests to me he's no better than what we have so I don't know why you'd put him in just for the sake of it?

We wouldn't be putting him in just for the sake of it Wassy we are leaking goals left right and centre. I think a little less blind loyalty and stubbornness from our coach wouldn't do us any harm (or him) but that is a story for another thread.

Ok, I'm not denying that, I believe he's picking the best players, I don't believe he's not picking Biancone, for example, out of loyalty. I think it's because he is not better than the CBs ahead of him. Just because those above are doing badly, it doesn't mean that he would come in and do any better if he is considered a worse player.

Surely if he's not playing, it's because the players in front of him are better. In fact, the fact he can't get in the team despite them not doing great only reinforces this point. If he was good enough, then he'd have got a lot closer to getting in the team.

Maybe, another point for a different thread about Cooper or managers so feel free to move it however if another manager comes in I think they'd pick broadly the same players as Cooper after watching their game footage and training performances.

^which comes full circle to my point that Coops must not rate him

It's obvious that there is a very good player that we have on our hands.
