Stevie Cooper
Also agree with SM, the board should be working to appease Cooper not the other way. We don't know what the issues are exactly although likely to relate to transfers that Cooper didn't want I suspect.

Either way, it will not reflect well on the board or club if Cooper is forced out for whatever reason in whatever form.

I also find it interesting that some people are unhappy that Cooper would be interested in other roles (based on no information at all) due to I assume a perceived lack of loyalty. Yet the same people are now suggesting he may be out of his depth/is not going to cut it.

Didnt want to sign a new contract
Owner generously spends £150m on new Players and Cooper doesn’t want them or cant get the best out of them.
Out of his depth in the PL, was he ever that good or did he just have one lucky season.
No, we need to get rid and bring in some proper experience like Dyche or Rodgers.

I dont buy any of that. He is without doubt our best manager in the last 25 years and god knows we’ve tried enough of them, we've had people here with better CVs than either Dyche or Rodgers too who have failed.
To part with Cooper now is madness in my opinion, we should move heaven and earth to make him happy, resolve any issues and make him want to sign a new deal.

Im with you Salv.

(Doesn't mean we cant disagree with some of his decisions though and constructively criticise him.

Some comments that we should be trying to appease coops and he should be given time to work things out etc etc.

Sorry but if he's been bought players that he wasn't 100% happy with, tough, he should still give them a proper chance (if indeed he isn't?! Conjecture). Every person who works in any business gets decisions imposed on them, you have to make the best of it and sometimes, other people can have a positive impact that you hadn't necessarily thought would work.

On the time thing, sorry but there is no time unless we want to yo yo, which personally I don't. We're nearly a quarter of the way through the season and already played 2 of our most winnable games of the season. We're taking too long to work things out and I'm not suggesting for a second that it's an easy thing to do.

Having said that, I would strongly prefer coops stays with what I actually know - if there are real things going on behind the scenes then I'd bow to that as don't like it when a manager takes too much control over a club.. but again, conjecture.

I just think he needs to work things out quicker. We've bought good characters on paper (lots of captains etc) so I don't really think it should be too difficult to get proper performances out of them, albeit with room to improve.

The recent collapses are extremely worrying, rather than being a team who managed to win when not at our best, which has evaporated. We are also nowhere near being able to dominate a team, which I could cope with, but some kind of performance is needed by now.

I have mentioned it a few times now..... was Steven Reid seriously important to last years results? Am I right in thinking he does a lot about the mental side? We were extremely strong mentally last year..... the collapses this year would suggest otherwise!

Anyway, I hope coops stays but learns super quick. It always worries me when lots of people seem to be thinking the same thing and it takes the manager ages to change things up..... just like Hughton..... to be fair, people said we needed a striker playing and he did play TA..... and he scored.

Mentioned this the other day, big miss at Forest this year is SR. It would appear that not many supporters appreciated the positive effect he had on our promotion. For the older supporters who may remember, Clough was not so effective without Taylor, don't think SR has been replaced adequately with the new guy who came from the FA, it might be good to get an older head in to work with SC at this point, thoughts?

Think the Reed thing is likely just wild speculation based on nothing but the fact he's not there. However, there is not really way to prove or disprove that.

How much time is too much time then? 10 games? 19 games? World Cup? Does who we've played matter? What happens when a new manager comes in and doesn't improve the results? How long do they get? 10 games again? Do you think it would be easy to attract a decent manager when they know the have no job security? Why do you think a new manager would necessarily improve the team? I mean statistically this isn't usually the case aside from a short term boost.

You know this because? You've spoken to the players to gauge the impact? Or the other staff? Or just wild speculating based on a few bad results?

Wassy, pure speculation from my point of view, but it is an observation based on what SR is now engaged upon within the game, seems this element is presently missing from the team. SR is well respected in the game as a "players" coach, was involved with the Scotland team as 1st team coach and had been approached to manage in the EFL.

Reid was here before Cooper and wasnt his choice so doubtful he is the person that made Cooper click. His wider effect on the team I have no idea.
Cooper’s right hand man is Alun Tate, he has brought in others alongside him too.

If Cooper is on the verge of being sacked then surely David Moyes must be too. After the season they had last year they're having a shocker this.

Brighton have appointed a new manager (Roberto de Zerbi) so Cooper won't be going there.

He's typically the type of manager we'd get if Cooper was sacked. No thanks, I'll stick with the guy we've got.

He is not being forced out.

He has a new contract on the table that remains unsigned and the performances and results speak for themselves.
