You win the forum tonight with that sentence Zico!

I think that is a bit harsh and even a tad ungrateful.

I think some are barking up the wrong tree.

Most if not all of our signings arrived with a really good pedigree.

Perhaps it's the player's who were already here who are struggling the most or the ones Cooper was really begging for like Williams and MGW. Williams final ball, shooting and crossing is shocking. Worrall struggling, Mckenna struggling, Yates struggling, Johnson struggling, Cook struggling.

Last years team would beat this years team comfortably in my opinion.

Our signings looked OK on paper but were they all necessary? How many really looked PL quality? The big money ones Awoniyi, Dennis, Freuler all struggling too. I have defended MGW but accept he hasn’t delivered yet. Lingard has some nice touches but his contribution is poor.
Too many others we have even seen but we needed a big squad apparently. Brighton have just 19 senior players.
Not convinced how much joined up thinking there was.

In which team do you put Cook, Worrall, Mckenna, Yates and Johnson? This years or last years?

All the above played better in the system as a whole that we used last year.

I accept thats a lot easier to say when we were playing Peterborough.

Yes I was going to say that the opposition we are playing against this season is different gravy to last season.

I hold my hands up, was a flippant bit of gallows humour after yet another defeat. Was mainly trying to be a bit lighthearted after a sh1tty night.

3 goals in 6 minutes-incredible.

Last years team definitely beats the current team though, partially due to form but also we miss the ability of Spence to get us up the pitch and cause chaos, Garners all round game but also the obscene ability of Davies to hold the ball up and let us get out.

Early days, but Boly was worse than Figs and that takes some doing. Freuler-I was in shock at how bad he was. Darren Fletcher felt we had signed a top player and he had seen plenty of him, so there must be something there.

I still believe we will beat the Sheeps 12 points.

I actually think there were plenty of green shoots of optimism in that display.
Despite 6 minutes of madness, the team kept trying and were the better side for the last quarter.
This is exactly where I expected us to be in terms of team performances, if not points.
But for the injuries to Niakhate and Mangala, arguably two of our three most influential signings with MGW, I'd bet we would have at least double the points tally we have now.

The difference in the last two games has- ignoring how the chances arose- been world class finishing.
Yet at the other end, brennan cant control a perfect ball and Awoniyi cant hit the target with a second header 2 yards out. Its not even championship quality finishing.
If we had reached 2-0 we could have brought in OBrien and Kouyate and managed the game from there. But it wasnt to be.

The challenges are simple:- get everyone fit/match fit (Niakhate, mangala, Kouyate)
Get everyone to understand their roles and the team; and
Be brave in selection decisions: start Dennis over Brennan, Aurier over Williams etc if it is warranted.

Re Mangala and Niakhate, lets be careful not to put them on a pedestal yet. All players not being picked suddenly become world beaters in fans' eyes. They've shown signs of being half decent but you could say that of most of the new players. I'm sure that their inclusion wont suddenly solve all our problems.

Yep classic! People did this for Yayes after two game too when he was injured. That pedestal has been taken away from him now.

Ignoring that MGW scuffed a really good chance at 0-0 after a perfect ball from Brennan? Also. Repeatedly underhit through ball opportunities.

Why would you bring in worse players? Further upsetting the balance of a team already struggling to gel.

The defending for the goals is criminal, at any level letting the cb the freedom of the 18 yardbox for their equaliser is unacceptable. I watched it again this morning and it looked so much worse.

Paulinha good strike but almost mirror of billing goal which would have thought would have been addressed in terms of that area being closed down

The 3rd, is just... again Sunday I'm shouting at my midfielder for not marking the cut back, let alone top level

Glad yo see Awoniyi play and score, yes should have had 2 but he's getting on end of things which is improvement

Also, would love to see us play 4-2-3-1 as I agree it would suit this squad and allow Lodi and Neco to play as actual full backs

I wasn’t ignoring anything - just didn’t think I needed to name every single piece of poor finishing in the last couple of games to make a general point.

And where did I say pick worse players? I was making the point about Cooper needed to be brave and pick whoever is in form. No one has a devine right to a shirt every week.
You’ve no idea (and nor have I) who might be more effective as we haven’t seen aurier play at all yet and hardly given dennis a run out either.
The point was not to make selections on sympathy or loyalty.
