He’s not going to sign the contract until he gets what was agreed when the discussions took place.
Certain agreements were made with players coming in, and that process is still ongoing.
He won’t sign it until he believes we are competitive. At this point he doesn’t believe we are.
They knew at the end of last season that 15 players needed to come in.
The key midfield areas and attacking areas are still short.

It is odd and this is my concern.
At the start of the summer, the reports were that a new contract was to be offered (May 31st in The Athletic).
Then on June 16th, Percy reported: Exclusive: Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper close to signing new contract
Now the season has started, and nothing. I'm just worried (but that's my default position with Forest) there's a reason for the delay. I hope not.
By all accounts, MGW is Cooper's no.1 target & now Marinakis senior is involved with the transfer and getting the deal done. That looks to me like an owner doing everything he can to get his head coach's top target.
Sorry for bringing this all up again, I just hope we get some good news about Cooper signing a new deal soon. Would certainly be a boost!

From my side a 12 month extension was agreed a long time ago. One media outlet actually owned by Marinakis went as far as to say that he had signed it. I even wrote it on here. Seems that even Marinakis own media outlet may have jumped the gun there.
However I cannot imagine for one second that Cooper is calling the shots and dictating to Marinakis.

Well after reading some of the comments on here, the term 'in Cooper we trust' kind of loses some of its value

Am I the only one that is concerned that he has still not signed his contract. I know he is giving all the right noises, but why not sign the contract. Why wait till after the transfer window, the owners have clearly shown their backing for him.
Sure I am being melodramatic, but if all is fine, why is he not signing?

Or maybe Cooper's asked for a massive deal, maybe 5 years or something and big EM wants him to prove he can hack it in the prem first. He's a demanding guy.

Good interview with Steve Cooper , the work load he must have is unreal not only managing the players and coaching them but with recruiting as well and the meetings with new recruits , background checks on the players and the correctors if they will fit into the team .
