I think Worrall for me may struggle to keep his place - McKenna was the pick of the defenders. Neco Williams will be great in the medium term but he isn’t as fast as Spence but has a better final ball. Toffolo looked a championship player. Henderson was very good. I fear we have also seen Worrall may have a fight on his hands. We really missed Yates physicality too.

The problem I had was they seemed quicker and fitter than us all over the pitch and our passing was awful did we string more than 2 passes together ? This is basic stuff that I expected us to be better than them at . Them being better quality than us I can live with
Come on you mighty Reds

Hello everyone , this is the first time iv posted on any forum about forest but il be very very honest the team what was put out on sat is not good enough as soon as i seen the line up i thought right away no its not going to happen .
Worrall is not good enough for the PL simple as that i watched him in a few of the friendly's and a few times he got tuned inside out and it will happen a lot in the PL
Colback not good enough if he was PL player would Newcastle of let him go , i dont think so .
Toffolo same not good enough for the PL may be a good back up but defiantly not good enough for week in week out matches like this .
Surridge not good enough if he was a PL team would of came in for him when we brought the player.
when we have a club record sat on the bench and we play Surridge im thinking why ? chuck him in and same with mangala , put them in the side to play .
then bench it was a championship bench mbe soh ,mighten ,taylor cafu, hammond all not good enough , when we have all them which are good championship players maybe a few good back ups then im afraid we will loose a lot more than we win .
sorry if im a bit brutal on the team but thats just how i feel . we have not got the time to mess around get these players they want get them in the team or we will be in a relegation battle a lot sooner than we think .

Hello Jason and welcome. I suspect that you have just said what many others are thinking.
We are still a work in progress so I prefer to wait and see how our squad and starting line up will look after the transfer window closes. Still plenty of time left and things will look different by the time the window closes that is for sure.

Agree with some of that Jason and disagree with other bits. I just wanted to pick you up on Worrall though. He's always going to look exposed as our right wing bank bombs on in our system and Wozza has to come across and cover the exposed winger, which is fine if you're playing a back 3. The key is that a holding midfielder must pull back and cover Wozza when it happens so he's not one on one. I thought he looked ok on Saturday against that St Maximin speed merchant lad. In fact, the entire defence was never really taken apart on Saturday. They stayed organised and looked ok-ish. Don't get me wrong, we were poor in an offensive way but the defence looked stoic and relatively organised imo. Also it sounds like Cook was actually going to start in place of Niakhate so the late change will have been a disruption to the side too.

I make that Worrall and Brennan now that have been written off by a few people
Yatesy massively benefitting from being injured to avoid being scapegoated. In fact his value is rocketing due to missing that game in many people's eyes!
We know Colback is a backup, so not sure what the point of criticising him. He's also in the back end of his career, will still be a good sub in games.

We have to let people express their opinion Wassy even if we don't sometimes agree with them.
All Forest aren't we?

Can we give Toffolo some slack please? It was his first game in the prem and he was up against Almiron and Trippier. Lots of left backs are going to struggle this season up there against those two.

Welcome Jason, dont blame you at all for what you have written, I reckon Saturday was a much needed dose of reality for many of us.
Best counter argument I can give is that this time last year I was looking at our rock bottom team and saying pretty well the same thing. Brennan just a kid, Yates league 1 player, Colback shot it, Grabban gets injured were doomed and why the f have we just signed Boro’s 3rd choice right back??
Funny how things turn out, I still think it will be a struggle but a bit more investment and crucially forge a team spirit and lets see what happens.

Yes I agree, apologies, don't want to shut people down, was meant to be debate! I'm just trying to defend the players where I feel the criticism is unfair.
There was clearly plenty to criticise from the weekend.
I'd be more worried that Awoniyi hasn't managed to get ahead of Surridge in the entirety of pre-season if I was going to pick one.
I think everyone is a bit shell shocked after the weekend, I think we expected to be slightly more competitive. The reality has definitely sunk in now, hopefully htat helps keep things positive on Sunday

Good post!
I do also think that St James Park is probably one of the more difficult places to go on your Premier League debut!! They will do well this year, some good players, settled team that they are supplementing with sensible signings, good manager, fans good when weather is fair! Not going to get too hung up on this results, but at the same time, might be beneficial to be given a bit of a rude awakening!

In defence of Worrall, it is worth noting that despite getting battered, we only conceded twice. Given it's been widely acknowledged that Niakhate struggled to adapt to the pace in his first game and Worrall is covering for the wingbacks that he actually did well.
