If the worst happens, but Horvath has a great season at Luton then we are still in a strong position. Plus I believe that without the fee agreed, ManU are paying a decent chunk of the wage now.
DeGae is undoubtedly one of the top keepers in the World. Henderson did well to displace him for a while a couple of years back.
According to reports we are paying Henderson’s full wage

Samba and Horvath out and Henderson and Hennessey in by the looks of it and that can only be described as an upgrade.

Pretty sure that was only to be the case if we had a fee in place. Marinakas's lad will have looked after this. No way will we pay all his wages with zero ownership.

Samba’s managed to get a 5 years deal out of Lens.
For example, that’s 5 mil if he’s getting 20k a week.
No wonder he wanted to go, secures his family financially for the rest of theirs lives.

Good luck to him. Will always hold special place with fans just for his heroics in semi final, never-ending the endless shithousery he produced in games against derby.
Wish him well.

Samba's farewell video on Instagram is pretty emotional.

Thanks for the memories Brice.
Suspect we will never fully know why he left, was it basically because he wanted a better contract? Cant blame him if there are some in the bomb squad earning 5 times what he did last season, Horvarth supposedly on 19k/wk and a big increase on promotion.
Or was there more to it, didnt fit behind the scenes or Cooper just didnt think he was PL level which is fare enough.
A bit odd in that he was one of a few who I though were good enough for PL and you would think would want to test himself there. Cant believe we let him walk for a few £k and then spent a fortune on Henderson so Im in the more to it camp.
Anyhow he was a good keeper, he entertained us and the semi final will live with us forever.

Taylor alluded to it in his Q&A. He suspected that even though his salary doubled on promotion he'd have still been below some earners. Also Lens are giving him a 5 year contract which the current regime just wouldn't do (though Fawaz might have!).

It does seem a strange time to be wanting to leave just after making it to the prem. As you say likely something we don't know, whether he was just a bit of a prima donna and felt like he should be pursued in the same way Brennan was for a new deal. Or perhaps when he was dropped during the season something happened then. It's unlikely he even plays again without Horvath having that international clash.
He was certainly box office, not always in a good way but most of the time positive. On the one hand I'm happy with Henderson, it feels like a clear upgrade and I know Samba had some issues that may or may not have been more exposed in the prem.
On the other hand, I can't forget Sheffield Utd or any of his other late season performances and the affinity we as fans had with him. Feels pretty gutting that he's leaving really. I guess getting promoted I thought we'd keep more of the team together from last year whereas so far we've lost one unexpectantly in Samba, Cook has already been replaced and maybe even McKenna or Worrall too (I really hope not). We've kept Brennan which is fantastic but I guess it's hard not to get emotional about this group that brought so much joy last year.
Honestly, if we started the year with the same team that started the playoffs plus a new LWB I'd of been delighted. Ah well I'll probably get over it :giggle:
